The AI on normal is brutally difficult lol
This AI will hit me in so many fronts at the same time and I don't know how they are getting so many units out at the same time plus the GDF AI sends too many grenadiers that just outright counters everything. I had 4 gatling turrets, 2 grenade turrets, and 2 of those anti-tank laser turrets and all of their grenadiers lobbed at my gatling turrets instant killing them before they could even kill 1 of their soldiers. I figured I would make use of all the bunkers but since AI loves to spam Grenadiers, all my infantry inside bunkers just melt which is very very annoying as these forts have ton of HP.

I gave up fighting them and tried against Dynasty, but they were spamming rocket troops and tanks alot faster and things got out of hand fast lol. I would love some tips to deal with them. Easy AI is where normal should be though. They still fairly strong to deal with, but lot less unit spam.

Same, im not a hardcore strategy expert but sometimes they just make the ai to have some sort of cheat.

I also feel like normal is cheating and massively so.. Then again perhaps they just make lots of resource collectors? Don't know, to soon to tell.

I know... believe me, I know.

I made this topic about it myself earlier.

This is coming from someone who used to play C&C back in the day, i'm talking about RA2 and Tiberian Sun like crazy.

Yeah but the AI in those was retarded, really bad, Unless you gave him insane resources, it was so easy to defeat.
Anyway, I noticed in another topic they where saying the AI does not cheat, its probably just us being bad at it for now, we need to train a bit.

Bro i used to own the AI in RA2 on normal and hard difficulties.

This is harder than that... how is that retarded ?

No, the AI in those games was retarded. Perhaps I was not clear enough. The AI in those older games was bad, really bad.

Two things :

1) those games were old like really damn old, we're talking 1999 my dude so depends on your definition of "really bad" - like i don't think programming AI was too easy back then compared to now

2) what exactly are you reffering to when you say "really bad" because i never had any problems in those games and i played the hell out of them back then

I played them myself, I also played Emperor Battle for Dune. Lots of CC type games. The "really bad" is by comparison to today standards so saying "i was good at those" really means little considering how bad the AI was.
The things I noticed the AI do in this, like pulling back tanks, attacking from multiple angles, coming where you don't find units and so on, completely blows out of the water what the AI used to do. The AI was easy to beat in those older games, even on the hardest difficulty since it did very little to nothing when it comes to tactics aside for attack move.

PS. I am not saying it was bad for its time, I am saying its bad for our time.

AI is defo cheating. I'd win an engagement and fully repair my tanks, that's 4 standard and 1 heavy, then look to push their base after their loss.

I get there and there are a shed load of army. OK i thought, quick to rebuild, then I get "your base is under attack" and I have 4 buggies, 2 tanks and a load of infantry at my base. How?

This is 8 minutes into a game. How have they got the resources to lose an engagement, re-pop AND flank attack?? I had 3 harvesters and 2 refinaries at the time. Trying to balance between army and resource production. If I had just focused on resource they would have killed me in the 1st engagement.

Def cheating.
Well glad it wasn't just me. I sometimes give it my all and still cannot manage a win and quite sadly, this is really the only reason I haven't pre-ordered the game yet. It's one thing for the AI to be decent but another to be over-tuned for normal difficulty. I know easy difficulty exists, but having to drop to it just to win makes me feel bad and well old lol.
kuaikukia Jan 21 @ 5:03pm
Eh no, that's not hard. I literally just win after my 3rd try. Using Dyn fight with AI normal GDY. I just rush them and spam units to engage before they can expand. But I have to admit the AI is actually pretty good because they can pull out if they seems outnumbered. And also they like to expand and have you think you have already crushed their main base, just to get mauled by their units from second base.
That's also a problem. I don't like rush play styles. I'm hoping we can get a 4th difficulty option and just kinda shift normal and hard up a tier and make a new tier in between the old easy and normal.
Argos Jan 21 @ 6:41pm
If normal AI is too hard for you, why don't you play vs easy one? I've just beaten a team of 2 normal AIs and don't complain about that, because if I want to get pwned I can play e.g. vs 2 hard ones. I don't boast, just want to say that everyone should pick the difficulty they feel comfortable with.
The easy AI is significantly much different than the normal AI and there's no middle ground between easy and normal.
Limz Jan 22 @ 7:14am
You just need to expand yourself, you can play defensively but that means actually building units and defenses or walls etc.
