What do coms and network linking do?
I'm not sure the tutorial went over these things, or I may have just missed it and can't find any info. Anyone who can give a brief summary?

Sentinel, for instance, can use its very low-damage marking gun.

Enemies who are killed while marked will also give an intel resource.

Some units give out coms like The Comm officer, which gives an AOE speed buff to units.
So they move and attack faster.

Thanks so much! Didn't want to replay the whole tutorial just to see what I may have missed.

And there is a perk where lasers can mark enemys, meaning any unit who shoots a laser can mark enemys if you get the doctrine where the rockets from drones get replaced by lasers you get a lot of options to mark enemys
Or, you simply steal blueprint for Dynasty Assault trooper, less hassle really playing in easy mode

No, they cannot, what they can do, is winning easy, marking enemys is not worth the effort at all.

And if the enemy spams tanks even the assaulttrooper is done for

Not really, Tanks only do tiny damage to infantry, also, Tanks have only a third of their range and cost much more in cash and slots, you can try spamming tanks, it will help little as you can spam much more troopers.

Sure they are not perfect, no unit is, but certainly vastly superior to marking stuff, they are tough, have an insane range and can target air and ground, and if you play dynasty, you can even plop down a healing station, which makes them near invincible, especially against tanks.
