UE5 is the worst thing to happen to gaming
I own a i9700 / 32GB RAM / 3060ti

I know it's a low-mid system, but my rig handles the game well on Epic.

The only performance issues I have encountered arise in the last missions for both sides.

Currently playing the last mission with the Dynasty.
And all of a sudden the performance has tanked to, I ♥♥♥♥ you not, 1-5fps
I have lowered the settings to Low
I have restarted the game
I have restarted my PC...
...and now the game loads at 1fps, so it's unplayable.

My CPU no doubt.

I just refunded Oblivion Remastered as the performance was randomly extremely bad despite being in the same location a day before where it was running fine (and some other issues like black screen on load, hitching etc etc.)

Anyway.

So many games are going to be using this engine.
I'm looking forward to Cyberpunk 2 in a few(ish) years, so I knew I was gonna have to buy a totally new rig to play that....but as of now, today, I can't even finish a game because of the engine it uses.

It's just the inconsistency of it that kills me...

Happened to me too. In my case it is tied to the save file itself. And it only starts after i load it. Not in the middle of the game and out of nowhere. Loading an earlier save or restarting the mission fixes it. I already sent a report to tech support but all they said so far is that they're looking into it.

Appreciate for the tip. I'm pretty sure that's how I got through the GDF campaign come to think of it.

Also, I'm playing on Easy. I have I've reached the unit cap several times though-out this mission, so there's been a lot for the game to track...

Thanks again for the advice.

8700k/2080/32gb here, no issues.
And I played vs 3 teamed hard + went
far above
the unit cap:frosted:, still 0 issue.
The engines tracking is solid AF when it comes to that.

I must say however that I have not once tried loading from a save game or anything.

Change the fps rate from unlimited to a fixed number.

I had it at 165, but have since changed it to 60

Interesting.

Maybe there’s a bug when playing the sorry missions…idk

Glad it’s working well for you
Loaded an earlier game

Played for another hour.

BUT STUPID ME SAVED AND LOADED AGAIN

And the sub-1fps gameplay raised its head again.
Same issue for the 5 saves I had made throughout the hour.

Looks like I won't be finishing the game.

Unbelievable
You mean devs not creating their own engines for the game they wish to make . because i'd agree with that, UE5 is just what you get when the good programmers no longer do anything in gaming at all.

Still the casuals loved their graphics and that's good for the greedy corporate people.
The industry has been getting worse for about 25 odd years it wont ever get better so try to enjoy the decline.
It's always corporate greed that ruins everything for sure.

I'd like to try and enjoy what I bought, but the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things don't seem to work properly...

I'm really disappointed with my experience with Oblivion, but having Tempest Rising peter out right at the end really irked me. It may be an issue that will be resolved, but idk. Right now, all I know is the last 2 games I bought and played use UE5, and both are technically unplayable on a not-too-old and still capable rig

I agree, UE5 is the worst thing that happened to gaming BUT this is one of the few games which run flawless on my 6y0 gpu. No stutter, no crashes, nothing. I was surprised how well optimized this game is.
Yeah it ran great for me too. On Epic even at 1440p.

But those last missions got a bit too heavy, somewhere, somehow.
People are playing tempest rising on a steam deck with 50-60 fps. On Linux. Through a compatibility layer. With 15w TDP.
I think "maybe" your PC (/"configuration") is the problem. The game is very well optimized and looks great. Blaming devs for using UE is wrong. If a company can't handle UE, what do you think would happen if they develop their own engine? Welcome to 60 fps lock and abysmal performance. (Fallout/Creation Engine? Dragons Dogma2/RE-Engine? Genshin/Unity and all the Unity microstutters + the shady business practices?)

It could be my PC, sure.

But I don’t have any performance issues with any other games.
I can run Cyberpunk 2077 on highest (no RT) at a steady 60fps.
Modded Skyrim runs fine.
No constant hitching issues or sporadic performance.,

Oblivion and now TR, both of which use UE5, both have extreme performance issues. Albeit Oblivion (waaay) more so.
Again it’s only the last missions with TR that are problematic for me.
I run a i9 7900x / 64gb ram / RX 6900XT
I didn't recall ever having FPS issues, I commonly run at 100 fps stable during campaign missions, even on the last Dynasty mission. My settings are all on Epic, and I do use the AMD FSR though, because I know my CPU is a quite dated.

edit: I think I read somewhere before that you can try switching to use DirectX11 instead of 12 to help your game stability issues? It's under the game startup settings on steam.

Thanks for the tip! Did not know that.

I do use DLSS on balanced.
