The name of a vehicle has nothing to do with who is piloting it.
By that logic the Crusader should speka in Latin, the Hammerhead make shark-sounds etc. Like Surge said the name of the vehicle has nothing to do with the operator inside.

The name shield maiden is a heavily gendered word that invokes a warrior woman's image. So I am not talking about who is piloting it, but why does it seem to contradict the label by having a guy voice it? Makes you wonder if they were slap a name on without a thought.

Do not speak or discuss with such infantile absurdity, a "Crusader" is a term implied for a certain role or ideology. Latin is a language, not a characteristic trait.
My issue here is why use a gendered title but with a contradicting voice.

Hammerhead is also a metaphor, it is more so in VISUAL context. So if a unit called hammerhead, it is expected it looks like a hammerhead(Hammerhead gunship from Kane's Wrath, or Hammerhead from 40k Tau)

I am telling you, the word shield maiden is a word with gender and cultural weight. So when I hear it is a guy's voice, it feels odd, like there was concept and execution mismatch, or worse, lazy design.

He probably thinks Tiger Tanks from the world war were driven by tigers.

No. I do not. And in fact no one would think Tiger tanks were piloted by tigers.
But then, let me tell you. The metaphor of "Tiger" implies something powerful, predatory, and intimidating. Which fits the nazi war machine vibe well. Not so with Shieldmaiden support unit, which does support, but then the voice acting just feel at odd with its name.
To be completely fair, I also expected a female pilot voice for a "Shieldmaiden"
If it's a guy, might as well name the unit "Shieldbearer" or "Hoplite" something. For the matter of fact, looking how it doesn't actually shield anyone per see, but disrupt weapons, deploy repair stations and provide AA, could name it "Swordbreaker"

See, someone get my point.

It is like you don't find any apples in the apple pie.

There is a band called Iron Maiden and none of the band members are female.
Some solid subtle trolling 7/10

The band is named after a medieval torture device, a name that was meant to evoke something intense and brutal. As someone who listens to Iron Maiden, I can tell you their songs carry just that.
A name does shape expectation, be it an Anti-Air Repair Turret deploying Vehicle or a heavy metal band.

Veil of a Far Dawn, you are not going to win any "logic or reason" debates with this twisted generation of liberal crap hole the world is evolving into. It's a mental disorder, driven by feelings and emotions denying reality.
