It´s minimal as good as the early C&C games, if not better in long terms.
I have played 3 campaign-missions yet, they´re quite challenging especially running some secondary goals in time.
Overall the game looks great, the AI doesn´t block each other and often attacks primary targets by itself. That you´re able to get some passives between missions is a nice feature aswell.
If you look for multiplayer mostly, there aren´t that many maps imo. But it´s still fun and future updates will come for sure. A 3rd faction will also come.
I´m sure you won´t regret to try it.
But I dont regreat buying it, still better pathing then sc1 xD
Good graphics.
Good music.
Good story.
Fun gameplay.
Runs well on an 8 year old toaster.
The only potential downside is that it plays quite fast. So if you like your strategies slow this might be a problem.
i've a slightly different opinion about the game.
its definitely not as good as westwoods c&c games, not even by a long shot. THAT SAID, you've to compare those games around their respective release dates and not today.
what i mean is.. lets say tiberian sun, my most favorite c&c, which if i remember correctly was released sometime in 1998, was a milestone in gaming for its time. i remember buying a new pc and the game on its release date and absolutely loving the game and playing it for months. it was a masterpiece for 1998.
for today it definitely isn't a masterpiece anymore (obviously). its clunky dated etc.
same goes for all other westwood c&c games. on their release dates they were true masterpieces. now, 25-30 years later they obviously aren't anymore.
now lets compare that to tempest rising.. tempest rising is obviously much better in terms of gameplay and QOL now than those c&c games are because those games are, as said, 25-30 years old, from the stoneage of pc gaming.
but tempest rising isn't a masterpiece for todays standards. its a good game, its fun and well made and its the best c&c copy since the originals, no doubt about that. the devs pulled that off and they made a great game, but if we compare tempest rising today with the westwood c&c games on their release dates, tempest rising is only good and not more than that ;)
additionally, outside of the extremely dated gameplay, the westwood c&c games still have some aspects that are better than tempest rising is, even despite their age.
the campaign presentation is much better in those c&c games. the real life actors are insane compared to the rather bland campaign presentation that tempest rising has. i still remember cutscenes from the original c&c games, they were that good. i don't remember cutscenes from yesterday from tempest rising anymore though because the campaign presentation and story is lacking a lot.
furthermore, tempest rising has literally NO content outside of its campaign.. those 9 multiplayer and skirmish maps are honestly pathetic. only 3 of them are 4 player maps, which is ridiculous and the other 6 are 1vs1 maps -.- all of them are mediocre at best and outside of those meager 9 maps the game offers absolutely nothing anymore.
thats quite disappointing tbh. they should have either added a random map generator or made much more maps for the release. they should have re-designed hte campaign maps for multiplayer because the campaign maps are far superior to the skirmish/multiplayer maps ;)
at least thats my take regarding this topic
This game has done something that ex-Westwood Developers Petroglyph have failed to do.... and that is create a game like Command & Conquer, that is everything that game is, but in name. If you like or love C&C, then buy this game!
You're a man of culture. I'm gonna award you some points for that alone. Tib Sun was the pinnacle of the series for me. Red Alert 2 was good, but it wasn't Tib Sun good.
