After that, gradually adjust the difficulty (2v2, 1v1, normal Ai…etc).
That should be a good way to learn the game while waiting for an update.
I watched YT clips in the meantime and I shall try again to mimic what those dudes did but even they only made it with little time left on the timer (tbh missions with a time limit are not a favorite of mine) in spite of clicking like madmen, knowing exactly what they were doing, not missing a single click.
So, now I started a GDF campaign but looking at the forums here, I already know that I won't make it past mission 4 because that one seems to be insane difficulty on 'normal' as well.
I guess my only hope at this point is that the upcoming 3rd faction will have easier missions for normies like me (silly me, thinking that 'normal' difficulty would be normal).
And, yes, I played C&C day one back in 1995 when it came out, played through the whole series and never had much trouble but this game is kind of different.
I'm also not a fan of the game punishing a slower/turtling approach. A well designed game should support all playstyles about equally and not force you to play aggressively via time limits and whatnot.
Oh well. It was only €39 down the toilet (GMG key). I've wasted money worse than this so it's OK but lesson learned. Games by this dev are not for me.
4th mission of the GDF campaign wasn't fun or challenging but extremely tedious and boring. The constant scripted off-map spawns felt cheap, unlike in missions where you're surrounded by enemy bases that flood your base. Maybe because it feels like you're never progressing the mission.
The point being is that practice helps a lot. Obviously I'm not an older person so can't say for sure, just that from my experience the more I play and get used to it, and gain muscle memory, the better it is.
A tip I saw from another poster is that when the enemy gets reinforcements from outside the map, get any unit to spawn camp them and reveal the fog of war, they shouldn't be spawning anymore.
Also the third faction might not have a campaign, at least it's not confirmed being they'll coming at some point.
There's always the option of playing on easy. I usually don't take it, but there's no shame in it. Your enjoyment should always come first.
