(Major Spoilers...obviously) Has anyone reached and completed GDF mission 10?
and how on earth are you supposed to do it?

I was content to sit back and slowly build up because the map is large and the veti are already there in force. You get the medical personnel to the airbase and then the veti start getting uppity. Then you have to rescue the civilians. Which is fine, I'll sit back and build up.

Then you're given an 8-10 minute timer because all of a sudden for no inexplicable reason for these specific civilians you have to rescue, they start swarming.

I don't know how im supposed to complete this. I would go with air power but the thing is, by the time 10 minutes come around you've already been fending off constant attacks, on top of their forces being scattered all around the city and if you fail to rescue the civilians in 10 minutes the vet send death squads, one which is already on the other side of the map and by the time you can reach them they've already started killing the civilians.

Im at my tethers end because the single player seems woefully unbalanced even on normal difficulty. Especially with how slow the economy is and how long it takes to build up a force strong enough for it to matter.

I can see people with really good APM doing this mission just fine but the rest of us who just dont quite have that anymore?

The other missions were a slog too and all the fun around base building is gutted because you're forced into abitrary timers or you're so constantly besieged that the missions can take 3x as long.

Maybe I just suck at RTSs now, but I can go back to all the other games, play them on hard with no issue, micro an macro with no issue. So I just don't get it.

Finished everything on insane. For this mission, all you need is 2 tempest artillery and a trebuchet + some random stuff for your main base defence. The hospital comes with more than enough firepower to hold the bridge, you can add a bit of static defence. For the rescue, the sites aren't heavily defended, rally some troops you can take them easily and prepare a skycrane to transport the civilians. After that you can just chill and do whatever you want, they only send regular attacks.

It is true, you have to learn the mechanics and tricks of the game. Sometimes if you lose, you just go back to the briefing and readjust your doctrines and armory upgrades.

- One of the trick is to build more Refinery. Not 1, not 2, but 4-5.
- If you have money, you can put down lots of static defenses. You can build bunker with engineer free, which is good for tanking damage.
- There are lots of op units, drone soldiers, granadiers, quellers, scrambler, trebuchet. you have to find the good comboes.
- If the enemy mass units you need AOE or snipe the army with air.
- You can cheese level 10 with lots of airplanes. But you need anti air too and proper upgrades.
I have beaten it on hard, pretty easily with this setup: 3 Refineries plus 3 additional harvesters, Drone operators, scramblers and later on drone maulers and drone ships. Bottom doctrine line full, second and first doctrine line two first upgrades eachh (I am heavily using marking + networking + command aura). Used laser and grenade towers, few tempest later on. Armory upgrades: Expert crew, First Aid Kits, Infantry scanner package, Laser drones, Laser focus lenses. What baffles me, i have only seen 2 secondary objectives (out of 4) despite having done those 2 in time. Anyone knows how to get them? I only got Destroy the Veti Dominance Anchors and Capture the tempest processing centers.

I experienced the same situation. I am thinking maybe I need to let the reinforcement arrive? I am not sure. Or maybe I destroyed something before the side quest appeared.

I made a quick guide for those two sub objectives. Grab the civilians but don't put them in the objective circle. The top civilian zone spawns another sub objective to protect the VIP. Then when the reinforcement timer runs out. Kill all the death squads. That there is another sub objective

Yeah you need to let the reinforcement arrive. I posted a guide for the two missing sub objectives

Yeah I just replayed the mission and figured it out. But man it makes it a lot difficult on Insane. Keeping the stupid vip alive takes some planning. Had to had buffer troops along the entire path to keep it safe. Whats annoying is that I have to keep the actual car alive not just the person in it. It was destroyed on one attempt and I use a skycrane to moved the VIPs but apparently doesn't count.

But now that I thought about it, I was racing against the time trying to do that and barely was not able to make it with 10 second behind the timer and actually worked in my favor. I guess I did have to wait and kill the death squads.

Probably way easier if I didn't think I had to do it all in 10 minutes.

I just beat the mission (finally) but without the two reinforcements arriving sub-objectives.

Build order was:
Power > Refinery > Barracks > Refinery > Define mini-guns up front > Refinery > Refinery > Satellite > Vehicle bay > Data Core > Drone Upgrade > Air tower x3 and then repair bay to heal up the ground units I started with then just some more defence at both bases.

Then I build about 12 maybe 14 drone carriers (the DCU unit or w/e that requires the drone upgrade) and two side cranes one for the side objectives and one for the main. I built almost no ground units. Doctrine just make sure drones are upgraded with lasers.

Suggestion:

Perhaps doing the same but splitting them up 6 and 6 one above the closest civilian objective to catch the reinforcements up there (the death squads bonus objective) and then another 6 to catch the ones below the closest objective? (A or whatever)

Pretty sure they spawn close to both which means you can't really catch the top one before people die or not easily.

You can actually rescue them all if you are quick, Just don't put them inside the objective circle and you can wait for the death squads to spawn. There won't be any civilians to kill in those zones because they are safe inside the base. Although i don't know how hard it would be in higher difficulties as I did it on normal
