Starcraft like control groups and hotkeys ("add selection to group" and "steal" units to another group)
Unless I'm doing something wildly wrong, the control group hotkeys feel really bad. You have to box new units, shift+1, then control+1, just to add units to an existing group. In Starcraft this is just one action: box units, shift+1.

Also in Starcraft there's a hotkey for "remove units from any existing group and add them to another group", better known as unit "stealing". I find this absolutely essential because I might want to split off some units instantly to ensure they're not in two control groups.

In general I'm not a fan of any of the hotkeys in this game. I'm really hoping they add a "grid" style layout (like Starcraft) where the hotkeys mirror their location on the UI. For example the layout would be from left to right (just like the UI): "Q" Buildings, "W" Defenses, "E" Infantry, "R" Vehicles, "T" Arial. The buildings themselves seem to us this scheme already with the "ZXCVB" keys, which follow their position in the UI.

What? You can just select stuff and do control+1 to make a control group. Where's this shift+1 thing come in?
I want you to think for a second about how you add units to an existing control group...
Please reread my post.

Shift adds units to desired group, or in other words, you dont need to select a group to add unit to it, every rts or other strategy games have this. Shift is more important then crtl in rts. Sc2 introduced Alt key, and now is demanded in every rts game, its too good, i wish wc3 had alt key

This is really true. I came in with the same expectation and I can't do it here.

somehow i also have sort of a bug when i had ctrl 1 group selected and then select only 1 unit type of that group by pressing ctrl leftclick on their portrait, and then pressing 1 to select whole controllgroup 1, it doesnt work and does not select all the units untill i deselect the previous units from group 1.
