Edit: With this being known for several iterations, I do not expect a balancing fix unless massive backlash. This is also saber....we may get updates far and few between after launch.
"Seemingly endless" meaning the exact same amount that you have? If you let the AI have the ENTIRE map then yes, it seems seemingly endless because you gave up all resources. The AI chokes pretty badly once you play at a semi-decent level.
Guess with right build order and units, you can probably beat normal AI a lot faster then me.
I'm not sure if you're new to the RTS-genre but in *most* RTS games the AI cheats as the difficulty either provides them with increased HP/DPS or increased funds for them to field units faster than the player. This is RTS 101.
AI in this game doesn't cheat with money or production speed. This has been confirmed by developer themselves and the players observation since the demo.
AI pump out more unit faster than you because they expand and build a base around every resource location and at every new base, they will create additional unit production facility. If you only turtle in your start location, you will get steamrolled pretty fast.
Some people haven't noticed this, but this game also has its own version od "oil derricks" which generate money over time. AI will always go capture all of these in their expand.
But overall. They nerfed turtleling. Turrets do much less dmg overall compared to old tests. Its fine imo.
It’s safe to assume they’ll add more maps, tho 5+ player maps we’ll wait and see. It’s obvious the players are limited due to engine limitations and optimisation, since that’s a reason why we have a pop cap.
I’m interested in seeing how the game performs in a big battle between 4 players, to confirm this.
Thank you.
