I have felt the same way but noticed when returning to a mission i had failed made me aware i had to be fast and on my toes whether it meant getting troop production up and running as fast as possible or being extra careful traveling to a mission way point. Its as if the previous failure made me better for the second try. My current mission definitely is the way you describe it with plenty of enemy units storming the base i have to defend. I have noticed though that the game gives me some time to get my forces and base defenses up and running so i will focus on that in my next attempt. Another thing is look for the weak spot in a mission where you can gain an advantage before the window of opportunity closes which is pretty much what am saying above.
Well, the first four GDF missions on easy was really easy (which is good!). Are you talking about later missions?
Or did you talk about skirmish? In this case, play 2vs1. You and one easy AI vs one easy AI. Then you can really play slowly and learn the mechanics.
Exactly. Am mainly a turn based player these days so when i jump back into a RTS game it takes a bit to get all those mental reflexes awakened once more.
Geez, kids these days. If you think this is hard, then you'd be wetting your pants and crying over the old school games of this kind.
This will give you time to get used to the game and get the hang of the UI, build order and gain some muscle memory. Then you can move on to a 2v2 or a 1v1 against AI, and then do the campaign proper.
Best way to get better in these games is practice, basically.
You learn more for a defeat then 1000 victories or however that quote goes.
Don't go towers, go units, fast expand and keep expanding and keep making units. If you play tower defense and try to turtle, you will lose.
This is what i just did and the pace is totally much more comfortable but i still lost LOL yet i learned alot and i know the blame was on me for getting too comfy not realizing the metal storm of devastation headed towards my units.
Then this game is not for you, or any other RTS. It's not supposed to hold your hand as you casually wander through.
