How is this anti-consumer behavior? The Deluxe Edition Preorder is only $10.00 more than the Standard Edition. You get everything below. The soundtrack alone is super nice. The full soundtrack will include over 40 tracks. Let alone all the other goodies DE comes with.

Deluxe Edition :
Commander Pack
Original Soundtrack
Digital Artbook
7 Days Advanced Access

the 7 Days Advanced Access has no advantage for the consumer, its sole purpose is to trigger FOMO

there are very interesting articles on this topic in several business magazines and it's also taught in financial studies as a successive method to upsell people who don't actually want the rest of a package

if you want to read more google "leveraging fomo marketing to boost sales"

Just wait and buy the standard version then?

There is reason why something is "Optional" ..........unless you're being affected by the FOMO .

I honestly had to look up what FOMO means.

In Case Anyone Else Didn't Know :
FOMO stands for "fear of missing out," which is the anxious feeling that you might be missing exciting events or experiences that others are having, often influenced by social media.

I can see how the preorder bonuses would cause that. As I imagine, the bonuses will disappear and no longer be available after the official release. I'm not sure.

I personally love the game already and want everything it has to offer. Even if it's only for a limited time. My thought was, why not buy everything now and get additional content? Seven days Advanced Access is just a plus. I play solo anyway unless I co-op with a friend.

But if you do not want the additional content, I can see your point.

Ultimately, for multiplayer, the game will be at its best with the official release as more players will be playing.

I bet it is some kind of sales method. But I haven't been this excited about a game for a while.

Great to hear it was something you care about. It was more or less aimed as feedback at the publishers/devs to make better decisions next time but hey if you take something from it. All power to you!

It's just a marketing strategy to make people pay extra. Plus, why hire pre-launch playtesters when you can trick them into paying you instead?

Gotta love these posts, all the crying about one thing yet they want the spotlight on their decisions.
Well not buying tempest rising would only signal a lack of interest in the RTS genre not disaproval of early access by any analist looking at the sale numbers.

And being clueless about it is why you're fine with getting suckered into it. And good ole' Slipgate definitely likes that.

Whether I was going to buy it now or later, the Deluxe Edition will remain the same price. No different than pre-ordering a game. I didn't get suckered into anything. That's what I was trying to say earlier. :manjoy:

Plus you get the pre-order bonuses. Sounds like a sweet deal to me. If you don't want the additional content, get the Standard Edition.

Pre order bonus is the second FOMO practice ;-)
You mentioning it is already a good sign that you got tempted by it.

They should just have released the game at the same time for everyone and it’d still have been a good deal instead of a dealbreaker for some.

Yeah honestly it's not a cardinal sin and the deluxe price seems fine for that minimal amount of digital extras... buuut it's Slipgate so playing one week early will most likely mean that it will feel like an early beta. Heck it will feel like an eary beta for 6 months and if it happens to flop like Phantom Fury and Graven did then it will feel like an early beta until the end of time.

You may have a grudge against the studio, but I don't. I'm 40 years old and have always enjoyed 3D Realms games and I have never had one complaint. I don't play all their games because it's not my style.

Older studios, the best in the field when it comes to RTS games, lost touch with their player-base and created in-game purchases, DLC commanders and turning the game into some kind of RPG with little to no resource mining.

This game is history in the making. This is the rebirth of RTS. I believe and know this game will be successful. I've been watching this game for a while and had it wishlisted since they first made announcements. If you want to miss out based on your personal experience and hold a grudge, more power to you, but the rest of us are going to experience and witness the best moment that's happened in gaming history since C&C and Starcraft. :gordon:

What a dumb comment. You're assuming someone is fine being suckered just because he doesn't know what a silly abbreviation means and ignore the rest of his post.

I don't like this stupid access too and I have my own criticisms against the studio/game, but we're gonna assume everyone now because of some random made up word? Pathetic.
