Enemy AI needs a serious rework
I've finally played through both campaigns and played against skirmish AI on all difficulties with decent knowledge of the game's mechanics. So far the current AI can't do anything against a proper RTS player that takes over the map, recons and attacks your logistics and expansion. One of the prime reasons to that is that AI expands using MCV early on! There are so many cheaper ways to expand in this game. GDF can set up a base any moment without paying extra $1500. Sure it does increase building production and gives the AI opportunity to spam base defences but in Tempest Rising base defences most of the time loses to a mobile army.
Every time AI goes for that second MCV I destroy it and now it just down $2500 of advantage and maybe some more because AI might have built a refinery there and some reactors which it hsa to spam because it relies on turrets.
This inefficiency turned bot into an easy target.
It's a shame because when you let him expand it shows great ability at micromanaging its army which makes combat itself with bot armies very engaging. More so than in the campaign.
It also needs to learn to recon better. What it does is sends a recon vehilce that attacks anything it sees. The downside of that is that when I send my infantry to occupy all structures on the map (one gunner per bunker) it get stuck at it and never gets to my base hense AI never knows my build order until it's kinda too late for him. It should use small forces to just spot taken buildings but send bigger more fitting forces to snuff it out instead of wasting time trying to take it down with a recon unit.
And all that was even without me using doctrines much. I didn't get to having to use them.
This AI is just a nightmare for casuals who are used to non expansive gameplay LOL
Which is not necessarily a bad thing as it teaches that expansion is key to victory in RTS but once you get over that it deflates completely offering no opposition.

I recommend putting this feedback in their discord, and yeah I agree. The AI is a nightmare for casuals, even easy AI is harder than most casual human players.

Well said. There needs to be more difficulty levels in general too, especially one above hard. The AI also performs differently based on the map too which isn't super great. But yeah there's a lot of inefficiencies and it's easy to abuse for people who are aggressive and expand as you said --Not counting in general ways you can exploit it which you pointed out lol.

There seems to be a problem with DYN(Normal) being much more aggressive/challenge than GDF(Normal) which is rather weak. Yep we need a couple more Skirmish Difficulty Levels, So another Mid Tier Difficulty Normal level, and an Insane level.
The Demo version, exhibited more tactical personalities than the current Skirmish Released game. There needs to be more (random choice) Tactical personalities to the Skirmish AI bot game.

Thanks for writing such detailed feedback! I'll echo what Vulcan said, that our Discord is generally the best place to share feedback that's this in-depth. We take all feedback regardless, but in our server we have better ways of categorizing it, and we have an upvote system as well.

Thanks again for sharing!

Appreciate you guys letting us know you're listening, there's a lot of us skirmish players out there and more AI options and difficulties + tweaks would be outstanding.
