Patch Summary
Rebalancing some of the Tier 1 units
We have already tweaked the Sentinel, but the performance of the Hunter, Pillager, and Havoc also have a big impact on the dynamics of the early game, and we wanted to give these units some attention.
Cheaper to hit Tier 2 units
Additionally, we are making it cheaper to hit Tier 2, which will hopefully increase access to units like the Riot Trooper, Comms Rig, Salvage Van, and Boar Tank.
Buffing Riot Trooper, Riot Medic, Drone Mauler, and Tempest Sphere
The Riot Trooper and Riot Medic will be somewhat more lethal against infantry now, the Drone Mauler should be more worth his cost, and the Tempest Sphere should survive frontal assaults more effectively.
Cheaper to unlock Doctrines
We wanted to experiment with opening up Doctrine usage a bit by making them cheaper and quicker to research and hope that this will lead to more matches where players are making full use of Doctrines.

Balance Changes
Global
  • Tier 1 and 2 Doctrines reduced to 800 Credits and 40 seconds (from 1000 Credits and 60 seconds)
  • Tier 3 and 4 Doctrines reduced to 1500 Credits and 60 seconds (from 2000 Credits and 80 seconds)
  • Tier 5 and 6 Doctrines reduced to 3000 Credits and 80 seconds (from 4000 Credits and 120 seconds)

GDF
Barracks
  • Build time increased to 17 seconds (from 13)
Hunter Tank
  • Attack speed improved to 3.2 seconds (from 3.5)
  • Health increased to 560 (from 550)
Satellite Uplink
  • Build time reduced to 20 seconds (from 25 seconds)
  • Cost reduced to 1300 (from 1500)
Grenade Turret
  • Range increased to 2800 (from 2650)
Engineer
  • Health decreased to 90 (from 100)
Riot Trooper
  • Stun Baton damage increased to 15 (from 5)
  • EMP Grenade range increased to 1400 (from 1300)
Riot Medic
  • LRAD Riot Cannon damage increased to 20 (from 10)
  • Health increased to 620 (from 550)
Comms Officer
  • Damage reduced to 50 (from 80)
Queller
  • Health increased to 900 (from 850)
  • JUDGE Laser range increased to 2000 (from 1800)
  • 20mm Rotary Cannon range increased to 1800 (from 1650)
Drone Mauler
  • Mauler Cannon damage increased to 80 (from 45)
  • Networked Mauler damage increased to 110 (from 90)
Trebuchet
  • No longer gains health from the Investment Durability Doctrine as it does not cost Intel
Refinery Storage Pod
  • Now gives 25 Credits per 5 seconds as intended, instead of inadvertently giving more

Dynasty
Tempest Rig Refinery
  • Resistances changed to Vehicle type (from Building type) - this will make it more vulnerable to tanks and less vulnerable to fire and explosives
Barracks
  • Build time reduced to 16 seconds (from 20)
Pillager
  • Health reduced to 600 (from 630)
  • Range reduced to 1400 (from 1500)
  • Build time increased to 32 (from 30)
  • Damage reduced to 45 (from 50)
Flame Turret
  • Range increased to 2800
Havoc
  • Attack speed improved to 2.2 seconds (from 2.5)
Radar Station
  • Cost reduced to 1500 (from 1800)
  • Build time reduced to 20 seconds (from 27 seconds)
Barracks Infirmary Upgrade
  • Cost reduced to 1500 (from 2000)
  • Time reduced to 30 (from 60)
Tempest Sphere
  • Health increased to 2000 (from 1800)

Why ?? GDF is already weaker than DYN in multiplayer.

DYN:
T1 Tanks way stronger
Rocket troops are overpowered
No intelligence to upgrades
Eco faster

That's very bad. In multiplayer good player can finish the game with early flame tanks supported with Rocket troops. Almost in all game the same combination.

You must buff GDF otherwise all players will pick DYN especially in rank
Those rocket troops took down all my tanks fast, this game needs alot of work or it going to fail.

edit: are you freaking kidding me 3DRealms do you even play your own game god.

Thye just nerfed Flame Tanks, though. Flame Tanks were the only overperforming unit DYN had.

To be fair, I would like it if their death explosion dealth less damage to vehicles, as they are much too good at suicide engagements.
DYN rocket infantry still too strong GDF unit has no real counter against them. DYN strong because their unit synergized too well compared to GDF. Ignitor tanking damage too well allowing pillager to move closer while rocket infantry safely shooting enemy from afar. GDF lacking in synergy since drone operator incapable to match DYN rocket infantry in both range and damage; unable to support fragile sentinel to deliver marking target. I found that after this update sentinel more often stuck in a small roadway and sometimes move too closed before shooting enemy infantry. Something in their behaviour perhaps ? Edit : Plus DYN still has more access for easy area of attack. Noone used field scout :(

Flame Tanks do need a nerf. They actually melt to Hunter Tanks and Drone Operators, but since they explode on death, they deal way too much damage to vehicles when they suicide charge.

My suggestion is to make Flame Tanks death explosion affect vehicles MUCH less than Infantry and Buildings, so Hunter Tanks become a proper counter to Mass Flame Tanks.

Sound - Excellent
UI - Great
Balance - Awful... Massive imbalance between infantry and vehicles

Build radius mechanic - awful, if I can see it, and there's no fog of war - I should be able to build there, makes any kind of defensive fortifications, especially early game a real PITA and unenjoyable.

I know it's a WiP, and I don't necessarily expect it to be easy - but still....
I will keep an eye on it though, potential to reignite the classic RTS genre - so many good Westwood memories!

Balance is always the last thing to get right, its also one of the things that take the longest. I cant think of a single rts that came out with perfect balance.

The fact there doing patches, listening to feedback for a demo with still 3 months b4 release is great. If they keep this up then by release we're be much closer to a decent balance.

Man this has to be a damn joke.

Did you guys at least put multiple difficulties against the AI in skirmish mode ?

I will be 100% straight forward - I will NOT waste my time again playing a DEMO that has this many balancing issues and just repeat the same retarded matches getting rushed every 5 minutes because that's what the AI thinks is "fair" for that difficulty.

Can we get some confirmation - will the CAMPAIGN for the 2 factions be the same as skirmish AI in terms of difficulty ?

The campaign demo missions they showed earlier were A LOT easier.

Do Not Turtle Here. I was doing that and losing pretty much every match, even on Easy. Until I started to play Aggressive, with spamming Infantry Early, just to attack the Bot AI. Now I can beat at least Easy. But Yeah, A lot of casual and new players will be put off by the currently aggressive AI Bot levels.
