atmosphere doesn't make a good rts game. as it sits, this game doesn't have the playability of a game like starcraft. starcraft is refined, responsive, has excellent clarity and visuals for seeing whats going on with the slightest of glances, this game lacks all of those.

while this game has potential, it has some glaring issues that needs to be focused on.
Blizzard fanboy detected, you think that RTS must be StarCraft clones lol...

Perhaps you could posts some arguments as to why what he said there is wrong instead of calling him a fanboy and making up a strawman to boot (the part about SC clone, he never said that)? Then arguments takes a bit of brain power, insults and strawman? Not so much, you must be a AOE2 HD fan.

Is this game one of the best RTS releases in 2023? ->Yes
Is it because the game itself is so great? -No
Can we see a good transformation of the RTS genre in 2023? -No
Is it more or less a C&C clone? -Yes

That's the sad truth --> #makeRTSgamesGREATagain

Not to nit pick, but it is seriously doubtful they will release the game this year.

I've heard this nonsense before. How can this be true when SC2 has far more players?
Delusional people. It's like when people thought AoE2 players would dominate AoE4 when B tier Sc2 pros ended up dominating the game. AoE2 has about 15k average concurrent players, which is high for RTS but not Sc2 levels.

Can you stop spreading hatred here? The AoE2 fanbase, which I noticed you called "incels" are among the most polite and non-toxic community out there.
At least get your facts straight, some people here know a thing or two. They did dominate AoE4 straight away. The first major tournament had an AoE2 player and an AoM player in the final, with the AoE2 player winning. So people from the Age games scene which are used with this style of RTS, it was to be expected. Sorry to break your bubble, but people who play SC are not automatically some geniuses which turn to gold everything they touch. Eventually AoE2 pro players went back to AoE2 because of more money involved in the tournaments there and also more coverage and streaming revenue. Not that I would care, but I can't help but notice how fired up you are over these useless things.

I play both, and in SC2 the waiting times for a match can get quite high. It definitely hasn't got high real numbers of players anymore.

The reason why the AoE2 pros went back, was indeed not lack of personal results, but lack of popularity from the AoE4 itself.

AoE2 is just far too influential and perfected, at this point, not to overshadow all other games in the franchise. Even a 20 years younger successor had no chance.

They did have a chance, but they mostly blew it up with how the state of the game was when it was launched, and also some questionable design decisions which will forever be there unfortunately. AoE2 has its own problems mostly with pathfinding, which is embedded into its old engine so it cant be fixed for good.
No game is perfect, neither AoE2 nor SC2, but yes they remain at the top still. Hopefully Tempest Rising is going to be there too. I'm waiting for Homeworld 3 as well, but I know that one is going to be way more niche.

HW3 does at least have the Co-op roguelike mode that should keep some interest for awhile and hopefully its fleshed out more, with a longer/bigger mode with more players and bigger toys (unique ships as well?) to fight much stronger forces.

I dont think so and im not really a massive SC fan. Im only looking to scratch that C&C itch, dont care if its the greatest game or not.

All I know is that I loved Westwood's take on a genre that they created much more than Blizzard's. I really really wanted to like SC2 and WC3 as the settings were great, but I came away frustrated with them, only liking the former's Terran music and the latter's story and both games art direction. They were both clearly made with S-Korea and e-sports in mind, not a filthy rts casual like myself.

I consider myself as "rts casual", I am not Korean and not interesting in "e-sport" at all , and really like WC3 and SC2, bith games have a great SP campaign

I guess it was mainly WC3 that I found ridiculously difficult on medium settings, I've never found medium to be that tough before or since, it was ludicrous, maybe you had to be well experienced with their other rts' before playing.

SC2 didn't have enough focus on the base building aspect for my liking and I found the story boring.

The SC2 story is incredibly bad. Even people that liked the campaign, mostly liked the mechanics, while the storyline is considered subpar in Wings of Liberty, and bad in the next 2 chapters.
Space Satan vs Bad-Girl-Gone-Good, is just not very much like SC1, or even very good as story by itself.

I liked the story, I did not like certain aspects of it, like Zelnaga angle and what they are, did, whatever.

I personally think that games like ZeroSpace or Stormgate have better chances of beating SC2. Tempest Rising is simply a bit too different to be a true contender for the same playerbase. Though I guess I have no idea how big the C&C playerbase is compared to the Blizard style RTS playerbase, or even the AoE playerbase.
