SC2 is just not getting worked on anymore, so it defeated itself.

cnc and aoe are completely different games than starcraft, this game is great, but it doesnt cater to exactly the same audience

Doubt it, starcraft 2 has a decade of features and improvements built into it. I'm expecting grey goo 2.0, and I liked grey goo quite a bit. Depends on the type of support the game receives and even then it would only be on similar footing. Also defeat SC2 in what way? Are people basing 'success' on whether an rts becomes an esport? I really like the atmosphere in this game though I'll give you that.

Also as an aside, I do find it really interesting all the people who are complaining that the game doesn't have x feature from y RTS has made me realize just how much variety is in the RTS genre, can't believe this genre got overshadowed by mobas which are all so similar.

I doubt it. Not due to a lack of quality, but rather a difference in both target audience and ecosystem. Blizzard games have their own ecosystem, and that ecosystem isn't Steam. That alone will insulate it. The other thing is that Blizzard and Westwood had very different styles. You can like one without liking the other, and I expect to see a lot of rage on these forums resulting from "this RTS sucks" when really the poster means "this isn't a *Craft clone". Likewise, there will be posts like this. It's not that this is a super awesome RTS, but rather it is a super awesome CC&C-style RTS. I personally like both styles, but prefer C&C's, but let's not conflate RTS in general with this specific take on it, yeah?

There are many games better than overrated craft 2 like:
StarCraft 1
Homeworld (single player)
Company of heroes ( the best ♥♥♥♥♥♥ RTS ever created in history)
Age of empires ll DE
Even the older c&c but pretty outdated already.

StarCraft2 was an overrated game in turns where blizzard had millions of fans due to world of warcraft, funny thing was that eSports killed it.

The gap from AOE2 DE and AOE4 is not that great and I think the gap is perfectly filled by people who are adverse to change (if you're pro at something, you want to keep being pro at it) and people with bad PCs.

I am curious but what do you use the call those games better? Because if you just like those more just say it that you liked them more and not that those are better since numbers would tell a different story.

So why sc2 died so fast ? It was all hype, if er talk about numbers fornite and league of legends have more players, are those games good? Also why Korea dropped sc2. Is a overrated piece of crap.

Sc2 is dead while age of empires 2 still alive, even coh2 with all is flaws is very active.

If sc2 is so good why are the sc2 pros moving to other RTSs?
