After the disappointment that is Homeworld 3, we march here
Homeworld 3 was supposed to scratch some of the nostalgia itch, but is mediocre at best. Now my hopes go here with Tempest Rising. A last stand :)

Here are some of the things Homeworld 3 got wrong:
- Campaign too short and story forgettable.
- Liniar tech research instead of Tech-Tree research meaning you'd have to go through all units regardless and it's just a numbers game, no different strategies.
- Multiplayer is peer to peer only. This doesnt only have lag implications. If the player who hosted the game leaves the game, then the game has to switch host to another player. This process takes a long time, I'm talking minutes, but most of the times it just doesn't work, the game freezes while waiting for the host transition. So 2v2 or 3v3 games are almost unplayable.
- There is no team chat, enemy sees all you type as well
- No post game stats
- games lobby very small only a few games fit in same screen, like it was designed for a small LAN
- teammates not grouped together auto, but each have to pick slots which makes hosting a game seem like herding cats
- no matchmaking for team games pvp
- in chat if someone sends msg while you were typing, you have to type all over again
- maps are too small and only 6 of them in total
- no 4v4 like in previous games, maximum is 3v3 now
- no spectator mode
- replay mode not functional lacking even things like which player is who and only the PoV
of the player who recorded it can be viewed
- while in a lobby/hosted game, you cant see the main lobby anymore with other hosted games
- map defaults back to 1v1 map when a new player joins
- team slots reset when new player joins
- new joined player gets team 4, 5, 6 etc instead of just 1 and 2
- if you quit a game before it ends, you dont see post stats (as minimalistic as they are now), only back to main menu or desktop

While first 3 are massive and cannot be corrected, at least the other ones could have been easily avoided.

Homeworld was ruined by forced inclusion, BBI is Canadian and they hired 2 Canadian DEI companies:
-Centre for digital Media
-Diversity Games

There are early concept art, the story was different and they changed everything.

This game has no DEI involvement and the game looks pretty good.

Yikes , man that is horrible. It's like team pvp games were better in games 20 years ago. We used to play big team multiplayer matches in dark reign 2 and generals circa early 2000s and it was a smooth enjoyable experience. Dunno what's going on anymore

Even grey goo, which was pretty hyped for an rts game launched without replays or any kind of ladder and no spectator mode. Like these features had become pretty standard over the years, especially replay. How you have a big budget game and not have a "must have to be taken seriously" list of features ready for launch bewilders me.

I dunno why game companies don't just offer an api feed of match results and let the community make their own leagues and ladders, super easy, cheap way to give the community what they want, just as an example. But you have to have replays, that's a huge part of creating an online community

Tbh, I'm not so hyped for Tempest Rising myself, just keeping expectation low.

I'm glad Terminator Dark Fate Defiance turns out well.

Yes, thats another one. There is no ranking, no ladder, you cant tell which player is better, no way to differentiate player skill.
Homeworld 3 had so many Red Flags, one was Jizzbox being behind the Scenes, so many Delays and Financial Issues, Shady Acquisitions and another was adding Denuvo Malware in the last Minute.

The Woke Cringefest Social Engineering Bandwagon that all Devs hop on in 2024 due to Private/Vampire/Elite Political Agendas is the least of its Problems tbh.

You also forgot that the Pricing doesn't correspond to what you get.

It's an Overpriced Mediocre Low Quality Product where you also have to pay for the Anticonsumer Malware License.

And the villain is petty and cringe...
It reminds me of how Rocksteady "Suicided" ( no pun intended ) with their Last Game.

It's like when you had a Long Trajectory of being a Good Developer Team and you wake up one day with the Idea that you want to ruin everything and go to Hell just because you feel like it.

Usually when they start hiring all those "Sweet Baby" Cringe Parasite "Diversity" Consultators is when you know a Dev Team wants to speedrun their demise and destroy all their Work.

Or you can always let Microshaft buy you so they can kill you afterwards EA Style XD.

To be honest, devs of homeworld should paid me to play that garbage...

DEI is a huge part of the problem because they have to mess with the story a lot, homeworld 3 is not even a homeworld game, it just have the name.

Tbh I was never going to touch 3, because BB studios had a brain aneurysm and thought it was such a clever idea to force EoS (Epic Online Services, Epic Game's version of crossplay) into their HW Remaster and DoK, to which I uninstalled both, because I didn't ask for Epic's crappy crossplay being injected into games I bought years ago, and I knew HW3 was going to have it crammed in, so I took it off my wishlist and blocked BB games.

I know the RTS genre is a lot smaller today compared to the 90's, but we absolutely do not need Epic games crossplay, Epic games only does this because they need to pander to the few they have on their store, by forcing Steam to play with what little they have on their client (much like MS did when they tried to force Sony to enable crossplay, because they were/still are losing their console war).

We absolutely cannot have Tempest Rising launching with these shortcomings. Better to delay it until it's ready and all basic festures are there. Patching missing features later is not going to work, this is not Age of Empires or Starcraft with massive audience. If it's not proper on release, it's going to be yet another missed opportunity like HW3.
