My idea of how the third faction could look like and possible origins

Okay, we know that what we know of the third faction is that they are connected to the Tempest. Well, I was thinking of them being former miners who were mutated by long term Tempest exposure (with Necromorph levels of body horror) that have gotten pissed off at humanity at large and had jailbroken their mining equipment to act as weaponry.

Or more like the Forgotten from Tiberian Sun?

Something like heavily mutated Forgotten with Necromorph levels of body horror and worse, they still retain their human intelligence and language , enough to be pissed off at what they have become and developed a grudge against the rest of humanity for leaving them behind to die.

Maybe adding some sort of Beastmaster to them.
One who controls and directs mutated wildlife and those who lost the last shreds of their humanity and devolved into savage beasts.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm expecting Scrin-like aliens...and all things considered I am even hoping of it to an extend, for the full C&C feeling of nostalgia. (always preferred NOD than GDI or Scrin but having them all on the game I feel is a must.)

Unfortunately I heard them say in a presentation that it's not gonna be aliens. So we dont know what it is, but it's not aliens...

That does look like alien, maybe they threw us a red herring when saying it's not going to be aliens.

I don't think it looks like aliens at all, it looks like an ancient civilization to me. Like, it has glowing runes all over it!
It's also underground, were you would not expect aliens to be.

It's called Tempest Rising, so it's likely a subterranean race of either humans that have been changed by the Tempest over a long period, or a completely different sentient species that always existed down there and are one with the Tempest and want to extend their empire. Something like that!

So, with the new faction's icon being revealed it seems even more likely that it is them who build these temples I think.
