pls do.
Embracer just bought lord of the rings. EA is on their way down with their FIFA lootboxes. plus FIFA license not renewed etc. 😂😂 I'm sure they're looking for lawsuits for games they open sourced.
also read your own thread:
OP clown, EA doesn't even know you exist. Why do their bidding in a way like that 😂😂😂😂 BIG L OP
you say that like its a bad thing? lol infact its amazing that its like this. Its as close as CnC fans get to have a new cnc game in a way. If EA wont make a new game then let someone else who obviously loves that style make there own version instead.
Yes please.
That can change the perspective a lot, like if I was EA I'd definitely sue Embracer over this for a number of reasons:
- It's just what companies do: they protect their IP. See Nintendo and Rockstar Games going after everything too though in a different context.
- They have unlimited resources: a lawsuit is simply "worth a try" because while there is no realistic chance of winning it there is definitely a chance.
- The people behind this, 3D Realms have a history of making some bad decisions and running into legal trouble because of them. One of their previous games, Ion Fury was originally supposed to be titled Ion Maiden. That obviously didn't sit well with the metal band Iron Maiden so they sued. Legally Iron Maiden was 100% right even if the lawsuit came off as a famous metal band bullying a - back then - indie publisher. Everything that happened should have been expected and 3DR should have realized that calling a game "Ion Maiden" is only asking for trouble.
- Even before that 3DR tried to make a Duke Nukem hack n slash title while clearly no longer owning the IP. Gearbox sued them, 3DR lost. If you made mistakes like this in the past and EA's vulture lawyers are looking at you then you definitely seem like an easy target.
- Tempest Rising does look very similar to C&C: the visual design very much looks a like a Tiberium game, the gameplay is absolutely C&C 3 (at least that's how it looks so far) and even the title is a play on Tiberian Dawn. It kinda goes a bit further than an homage it seems.
- It's not the 90s and the early 2000s anymore and companies started caring about clones / copycat games. See the PUBG vs. Fortnite lawsuit, something like that would have been unimaginable 20 years ago.
On the other hand as I've said EA has a low chance of winning a lawsuit like this is and 3DR is now owned by Embracer which means more money, more lawyers on both sides. And EA trying to shut this down can easily end up in a PR disaster too since they'd be basically telling C&C fans "you get nothing until we say so"... except if there are plans at EA regarding C&C's future, for example more remasters and a new game are planned.
So the way I see it it's worth to pay attention to EA's reaction because that might indicate if C&C has a future or not. Like you know, if there is something new coming then they'll obviously attack this game sparing no expense but if they have absolutely no plans with C&C anymore then they might just do nothing.
We already had EA made C&Cs, RA3 and C&C4, both of which were disastrously bad and sunk the IP.
also since when games care about companies politics? are you trolling or just want some attention?!
But Tempest Rising feels own enough to me.
From the trailer, just the music reminded me of C&C, and i don't saw that as something bad. It's just very good music. 🔥
LOL say you're a pathological liar without saying you're a pathological liar.
And that is a GOOD thing!
- no Kane, Tanya, or any of the characters and lore we became fans of
- the tone seems a lot more serious in nature.
- the soundtrack is no where near on the level of Klepacki's work
This is why the game needs to have its own thing going. Sure tease us with a C&C clone look to draw us in and generate hype. But to have a chance at being more than "haha that was pretty cool for a C&C clone", it's got to establish itself separate from C&C.
I want more than just a C&C game. I want an IP with potential for sequels. I want something that can legit move forward and rise above just the fond memories of C&C.
That's also why I'm rooting for Crossfire Legion. We need new IPs to carry on.
