Should be free to play to remain competitive.
Games like this should be free to play as traditional RTS is pretty much a dead genre per se. Moreover, the free to play model will bring in more players around the world to help the multiplayer community. The possibilities are also endless, i think the developers should also port in to google play store - almost everyone in the world has a phone!, which means good $$$ for developers.

erm no...
The game has a heavy single player game with cutscenes after and at the start of every mission, stuff like that doesn't go ftp. The focus is sp atm. The reason why rts has been dead for ages is because they have tried to chase trends like dow3 and then AA and ofc ftp all of which failed...

They basically going back to well one more time to see if it works. High quality SP campaign with good lore and high production values and fun multi-player will all standard features and charging a base fee to purchase. I for one wish them well

I won't support this game unless it's free.

So you're suggesting advertisments or microtransactions? No way!

Think about it, in the long-run. Would you want to see an empty lobby? or seeing yourself asking in the steam discussions or have a discord to have someone to play with? The soul of RTS is all about multiplayer. Single player narrative is pretty dead. Imagine AOE 4 with no multiplayer

Maybe they'll make the multi-player branch free to play or something

So how exactly would they make power (assuming you're not just trolling)? Or do you expect them to give it away for free?

PS Traditional RTS are not dead, they don't make as much money as COD or other similar games but they have an audience.

You don't seem to understand my question?

it's hard to make an RTS F2P - F2P usually requires some kind of trickle of new content (which could just be new weapons in a FPS for example) - hard to do that in RTS where meta game balance and unit recognition is so critical. If a player shoots you with a new gun in PUBG you say "oh cool where can I get that" - when you lose to a new unit in an RTS or a new ability you are just frustrated and feel like you have relearn the game all over again each time new content like that is released.

Even if an RTS game just sells skins, that creates it's own readability issues. I guess a F2P RTS could release new SP content which is fine, but that's a lot of work - maybe it could release new SP only cosmetic, items, units, abilities etc... but once you play through the campaign is there really that big of an urge to do it again with a yellow hat on your commander? I dunno

Nah. I'll pay for it once. Play through the SP and replay it from time to time if the story and gameplay are good.
No MTX or free to play BS.

Again, if you're not trolling, do explain to me how do you expect the developers to make money with this game, if its FTP, what would be the business model for them to make money? Do you want a shop with microtransactions and if you want to unlock this tank pay us 10$ or what?

In the long run, the money we spent on this game wouldn't matter to us anymore and we can enjoy this game without annoying advertisments or microtransactions - these two things will haunt us in the long run if the game is free.

I only play single player in games (apart from Call Of Duty) and I always enjoy them, especially Skirmish modes against the AI. Everything you said and want is the exact opposite from what I want from a game. But that is ok, we are all different and I am happy to pay for any game I am interested in. This one looks really good :)

rts isn't all about mp competitive at all. Sure its big in some rts like starcraft. But games like warcraft or cnc were huge and popular because of there campaign. Most mods that come out for cnc now days are single player mod conversions.

W3 was big because of the MP just as well, more so then the single player.
