We’re excited to ship StreamSavers Desktop in Early Access.

We’ve completely rewritten the game. The original ran on GameMaker Studio 2 with PNG sequence animation. The new version is a from-scratch engine: your desktop is the game world. The game runs as a transparent, always-on-top overlay. Heroes fight waves, hatch from eggs, equip loot, and level up while you use your PC. Progress through five zones from Desktop Wastes to Void Kernel, with 100+ collectible characters, 46 egg variants, spells, quest chains, and full equipment and inventory.

Every character you unlock, also unlocks each of their limbs, weapons, and shields as parts for the character creator! Over 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 (256^8) combinations!

What makes this build different:

• Desktop as the arena: The game lives on your desktop. No fullscreen takeover; it sits on top and stays out of the way.
• App enemies: Running Windows apps can spawn enemies based on their icons. Your taskbar and open apps feed the world.
• Twitch-ready: Chat appears in-world, emotes become attackable entities, and viewers can use \!enemy\ to spawn foes. OBS browser-source mode is built in.
• Single EXE: One portable Windows executable. No installer; run it from anywhere.

This Early Access build is a focused slice: core idle loop, tutorial (phases 0–2), shop, quests, and save/load with backups. We’ll add more systems (camp, bounties, formation, prestige, etc.) in regular updates based on your feedback.
