people saying pay to win but the most I ever paid for was auto pickup and I've got a nice 72% damage buff from this idk might be skill issue :lunar2020ratinablanket:

Does the score update daily? I got a few points and my total is still same.
Do people with higher tier (10% 25%) get better bonuses than say those with 50%?

Better as in:
50% Score x 1.1 = damage bonus
25% score x 1.2 = damage bonus
10% score x 1.4 = damage bonus

tome
Zio 16 mar, 2024 @ 13:32
It seems that people think pay 2 win means that you can only get something via payment, no wonder everyone keeps saying the game isn't p2w. Because that is not what pay 2 win means. Pay 2 win means being able to boost your progress beyond what's feasibly possible compared to people who don't pay for the "upgrades" (read microtransactions). Just to point to the obvious before anyone can try to ignore it: I used the words *progress* and *feasibly* on purpose, they are not decoration. Games don't need to have active PvP to be pay 2 win, the more frequent and the more crushing a "wall" is in a game, the more people are pressured to feel the need to purchase. Pay 2 Win. The most common category of p2w is obviously PvP or other contests/competitions and everything along those lines.
Content you can only access when you pay is called DLC (granted though, that definition has been muddied by loads of bs over time as well)

That said, unless proven otherwise, the tome is only indirect p2w but not like people think. The tome bonuses shown are what you get from your own upgrades, from bubbles for example. So the tome isn't THAT bad, but it exacerbates fomo and pushes people to get higher scores and get into that juicy 0,5 percent of people.

One huge problem that Lava has is, he spends too much time around people who are on the same page as he is. A typical gamedev problem though. Someone who isn't familiar with videogames would be completely lost with this game and not play long at all. Most things are poorly explained, if at all. All of your upgrades go all over the place, it ain't easy to know what goes where or comes from where. Perfectly encapsuled with this update. One big effin reason why it update blew up in his face again. He definitely lost touch with the average user..

if you just want achievements download Steam Achievement Manager from github and click them as completed on steam, the issues with achievements isn't new and i remember back when i started to play it took about 1 year for some to be marked as completed even though i had them completed in game for long time and even got in game rewards for them, don't know why

You will never get into top 0.5 % even if you spend millions on micro transactions in idleon. Only way to get there is either for somebody in the top 0.5 % to stop playing or player pool increases exponentially meaning 0.5 % will be alot more people. The game is and has been by your and even my definition of pay to win ever since companions were introduced. Almost all of them providing great bonuses that all items in gem store combined can't compare to and most importantly can't be grinded. Apparently with last patch we also got limit to 300 Gems per day from killing bosses which is bit of an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ move towards free to play guys though this only affects very late game people as prioritizing gems over normal progress only make sense when you have no more normal progress left to do. I used to farm gems to buy everything that is present in gem shop before release of W6 and could get around 10K gems a day but only thanks to huge amount of kattlecruk keys i had stockpiled while leveling up all of my characters at tremor worms. And as soon as the W6 came out, the gem well dried up as nobody was dropping any keys anymore.

it's not p2w since there's no real competition. There are gatcha elements like the pets which you could consider hardcore paybaiting and gambling, I don't like that system it adds nothing to the game gameplaywise except gambling for real money and you can't get that currency unless you brought it for real money. I spent like 80€ on it and I can tell you it's designed to constantly drain out a lil more in hope of getting that shiny dood pet. I was like 40€ in till i had everything but dood and i spent 40€ more on NOTHING in a desperate attempt to get dood with a small increasing drawchance per 10€ or so spent . Ofc It's my own fault, i knew the risks and i knew the odds. I can imagine some whales paying hundreds of dollars into it. It's one of very few updates i consider sus especially because it's full of psychological tricks that i don't like.

Its an idle game (with an insane amount of interconnected content). Hell, I've played since pre-alpha testing OG days and still learn new things all the time. Who cares if some people are further than you? It has zero bearing on your personal account, as IdleOn is, for all intents and purposes, singleplayer. Outside of a fully-maxed guild, of which there are tons, the only thing that matters is your personal progress. I only bought auto-loot a month ago, myself; and am happy to support Lava. I've gotten way more hours, and fun, out of a free idle game than I've put into games that cost $50-60 USD base.
Tranderas 16 mar, 2024 @ 14:50
Are people really getting this mad over a leaderboard you can completely ignore...?
Kaos 16 mar, 2024 @ 15:11
Wouldn't really call it P2W either.
Pay for convenience.
Pay for progress.
But not Pay to Win.
What would be the point? If you win a game its over.

The thing that literally everyone who says anything along the lines of "just ignore it" (or other dismissive mantras) doesn't get is...this is not about you. It's not about me. It's about taking advantage of people. Especially the people who are susceptible to these things that the games industry has been implementing more and more. Not everyone can ignore those just like that.

Pretty difficult end this early without a biting remark, but the bottom line is, one of the biggest problems in this is that too many don't care.
