There is also an upgrade that lets you get more from your samples with each day, as long as you don't make a new sample, which resets the bonus and starts anew.
Of course your suggestion would be a QoL thing but if one has to go through the effort to equip everything again for the relevant sample, that's the lion's share of the work and going to the spots is negligible in contrast. Besdies, it's probably not possible from a technical stadnpoint. Because samples are based off your offline gains for the activity shown in the lower left of the screen, but when you're in town you get at most the town skill but that usually goes away when you exit the skills' screen. Your suggestion would require the game to complete circumvent its own systems built around everything. While I'm sure that is possible in some way, it's absolutely not feasible. As of now, the game can't even handle several skills on the same screen with offline gains, some skills can't even handle auto, or vice versa (for example if a character is auto fighting and is running past bug spots, the character will stop and catch bugs, also if you catch bugs and then hit auto, at some point the character will just run to fight).
That said, there should absolutely be an improved way for sampling fish, and post office is also my favourite, I don't look at the stamps for more than whether I have 5 stacks of discounts (don't know at what point you get them but it's probably a much later thing so don't worry if you don't know what I mean)
I now just do samples when I do an armour/weapon/tool upgrade for my whole crew.
I just done one today as I've been well behind upgrading equipment. It's taken me most of the day just to upgrade everyone's tools to the best possible along with their trapping & worship tools. I tried to be efficient but still ended up making 2 extra Plat' Pickaxes instead of Chopping Axes lol.
Some went from zero skill tool in certain skills up to platinum, & even had a few grab dementia. Now I'm stuck as I need void ore for my Maestro firstly, so my best Barb & Maestro are mining to get their skills up to get to it. Barb is needed to mine the void ore & Maestro just to keep up with him as he can't even mine Dementia due to low efficiency.
I haven't even got round to the armour & weapons but I did a resample on a few of my characters & some of their samples more than tripled ;)
So now I have multiples over what my refinery needs which is nice to have as they can build up stock for upgrading other things. I can now leave my refinery to fill to maximum & not have to micro it so much which I was doing due to low sample rates previously.
And yeah, fish are a pain & my biggest problem. I also noticed the catching "bugs" when I first went into W2 so I generally have my character switch screen at the ready before hitting auto - probably makes no difference but makes me feel better ;D
EDIT:- Just doing my best Woodcutter now & they're sampling 9x or more than what it was before hahaha.
Either way though, I hope you kept the surplus tools bc you'll either get more character OR need them for post office orders, so they're not all useless!
Not qure I get what you mean with the last paragraph but luckily Lava has learned himself to position platforms differently later on, so they are generally away from fighting areas etc :P and he added some things to help with fishing, that was the worst skill for a lot of time (not sure how it is now but I don't dread it anymore)
As a personal note, I haven't done samples in months I think. I'm soooo overdue :D but it's no big deal, I'm still scratching at the first World 6 tools :P I mean my playstyle probably aligns somewhat with yours, not perfect but it's the way one feels comfortable with and that's what matters. As for the fish, you've probably already seen it but the gem shop has upgrades for printer, especially for fishing that's a life saver. The only chore you still have to do is pick the right spot for the right fish :P what I mean is, gems are not that rare and you can more or less spend freely, though you may want to keep some in case there's something in the temporary corner that you may have an eye on. Oh right, one more thing, I mean first off I'm sorry with bombarding you with stuff here, and possibly what you already know (doubly sorry at this) buuut if you haven't joined a guild yet, start your own (did this myself too). Your account and characters are all in, aside from other bonuses one of them gives gift boxes each week, often alot of gems!
I just realised the 2 extra picks I made are actually Dementia ones as my Barb & Maestro are using the Platinum ones as I type but they'll be able to use them very soon.
Already got one "poop" axe & pick in storage, got rid of all the rest as can't keep too much for possible future post office orders etc as space is sometimes an issue - despite currently having 356 storage sots & 72 inventory slots ;D
I'll just remake things if I want the PO box points as I have plenty of inventory.
And yes, got the printer upgrade as soon as I hit W3 as I saved up for it ;o)
Also started my own guild fairly soon but I made a noob mistake early on & upgraded the bonus regarding small guilds twice, which actually gives me less points bonus.
When I realised I was going to restart the guild but I'd already got it up to about lvl 8 so resigned myself to being ok losing the small bonus. Still only at mid lvl 12 but it's a passive thing that gives back for very little work as I do most of the quests anyway.
I remember the gift boxes giving gems several times so far - 69 if I remember correctly.
Lava seems fixated with that number - think he's a little frustrated lol ;p
EDIT:- Just trying out that poop pickaxe, actually lets Maestro mine Dementia so may get him to void too, we will see how it stacks up against Dementia pickaxe once he gets over lvl 37 (Dementia pick lvl). Happy using Plat' for now on lower ores as exp rate quicker.
As for the guild thing, I feel you. Luckily I haven't done that yet but I'm close quite often. "Oh, cheap upgrade, eh whatever" *BEEP* though in the very long run, it may make more sense restarting even now, I mean, it's an idle game that basically goes on forever. But maybe the point loss is super negligiblem, never checked on that.
Well, I'm sure you'll figure it out, have fun!
