What I had to do was log into a different character, grab the quest again, AFK in the kitchen zone. Now, this is important, the AFK of 15mins will not register on the quest task but after 15mins I logged back to my main who was AFK in the kitchen and the 15mins was instantly counted. Sure, weird, but there you go.
Feedback for lava (if you read these) is to either move Gobo near the nest or have a pop-up 'see gobo first' when you first enter the map. For newbs who don't know the map the first thing we see is the nest with eggs, Gobo is out of sight, and so keen to explore the new map we go click happy at the nest and I think getting a spice before starting Gobo just screws this quest up. Anyway, all fixed now.
Especially for a game like this, there are different types of "afk". When the game wants you to be active, it says so, aka doing something actively with a character that you logged into right there and then. When the game wants you to do something AFK, it means putting your character into the position to do that thing, and logging out, either to another character or out of the game entirely.
On a meta level, so to speak, people have different terms for different activities. Personally for example I say idling actively or active AFKing, it's when I'm logged on but just let the game do its thing in the background.
As for the quest and fetching rewards stuff, well that's nothing to be fixed anyway because different games handle that differently. You will never not wonder whether it is best to leave or pick things straight away when entering new areas xD
Seeing how you're rather new, you probably haven't already progressed through the docks with fishing in world 2?
@Zio - I'm all over the shop, unsure where to focus so I've only progressed to trash island regarding fishing.
I think I screwed up recently. I've finished all TP Pete's quests in world 1 sewers and I just found out today that TP Pete drops a talent book if I type "More like Poopy Pete" when standing next to him and I do that (I'm assuming "typing" is opening chat and chatting in map chat not server chat???) nothing happens. Oh well learning as I go, took me longer than necessary to figure out i was wasting my spices and not cooking the dishes and souls/worship took me even longer. It's stupid fun however so I'm just rolling with it until something clicks.
And I don't rememger how it was with TP Pete but it should be doable with any other character in that situation. But yes when the game wants you to "say" something it's for the area chat (left most of the chat tabs).
Yeah you'll figure things out and if it takes a bit sometimes, it's often not even your fault because it's just how the game is at times.
