Unable to Play - No Characters [Solved]
Hey, So I played this game a while ago, got a new pc etc and finally decided to download this game and play it again. When I load it up it takes me to what would be the character select with the 'Play' sign, however there are no characters to select, and I can not click the play sign.

I did a search online and they suggested logging on to the browser version of the game and letting it do an auto save and then relaunching Steam. I feel a little silly but I don't know how to log into the browswer version with my Steam?? If that is the only way to fix the problem I'm having anyway.

I dont even mind if things need to be restarted.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Since it's a new PC and fresh install, I'd guess it's an issue with Steam cloud trying to load your save that for some reason is corrupt/incompatible. Or it could be your firewall/VPN blocking the game from connecting to the servers.

I would try these steps:

1. Right click game in Library -> Properties
  • Check that Steam overlay is enabled (supposedly the game needs it on, but you can try off too)
  • Open the install directory for later
2. Turn off Steam Cloud (or try with it on if it was already off): "Steam" button in top left -> settings -> cloud
3. Verify and experiment with those two settings above.
4. If previous steps failed leave Steam cloud off, overlay on, then completely uninstall by uninstalling normally in library, then check that the game directory is deleted, and finally make sure "C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\legends-of-idleon" is deleted.
5. After completely uninstalling, install it again and try.

Failing that I would try the Discord server and asking the dev.

Also, just to be sure, you can't press the arrows or anything and you waited a minute for everything to load / restarted a few times? Mine looks the same then everything loads after a few seconds (though my ground is grass not snow). One time it was stuck and I had to logout to fix it. You don't have a logout button but maybe disabling cloud and reinstalling will achieve the same thing.

AFAIK you can't link Steam, so you're supposed to have a separate account to log in with. It sounds like you need to logout/in in the Steam version using said account (there should be a signup/in button somewhere).

I'm afraid I don't even see logout as an option. I've taken a screenshot (linked below) I kind of mentioned, but i played the game for a little whole and had at least 2 characters, though this was April 2021 (according to achievement dates) So I'm not sure what updates have happened that may have broken it. I have verified the files and its a fresh install.

Hey, that worked. Thank you. I had to do the uninstall and make sure the AppData was cleared. Thank you for the assistance!

No problem, also you can hover your mouse on a post, click the arrow, and mark it as the answer instead of writing solved manually. It also makes it easier for others to find the answer. Unless that was a moderator that did that? Either way that's how you do it lol
