Major issues with game progression.
I am having a really hard time trying to progress to a new area. The weapons and armor mats are really rough also. Seems the only way to progress is to spend money. The only quests I have to help are in areas that I can't even get to.

how you spend your passives is super, super, super important the less of them you have in relation to your current area. For instance: Up to about 20, go straight damage stats. Hitting things isn't difficult yet, and you can survive most damage with food. Probably gonna get stuck at slimes for awhile, can't do tree, if you somehow get to poop you may get super discouraged, and you will start unlocking your other characters. Unlocking and leveling characters will take up a bunch of most of your time initially, and by always having less time demanding goals, it will make playing long hours feel fun and exciting.

If you get to this point, you've reached the first serious wall towards continued investment (I like to call it Wall-E). This is by design; if you enjoy the game, you will play enough of it early on to at least be invested in it later. Possibly financially; definitely mentally; occasionally spiritually (some of you build shrines to Lava do not lie). When you start comparing the amount of effort you're sinking it the game vs what you're getting out of it, you make a choice to drop it or not.

You might chase that initial rush of reaching goal after goal after goal, always looking for that next hit of dopamine, sniffin for it, fiendin for it. Maybe you spend a little bit of money. Maybe you don't, maybe you just bite down and grind. At first, it could work; at first the grinding isn't so bad. Just download deskpins and watch some anime while you eat another packet of shin ramen and drink your bubbly like everyone else. Maybe order some fries off amazon.

But it always gets worse, and you always gotta grind just a little bit more for a little bit less. Pretty soon the paltry amount of time/ money you spent on it will become apparent. At this point, you could be anywhere. Some guy just got to World ♥♥♥♥♥♥ too-far-for-me-to-think-about in like a day. ♥♥♥♥ him; he's incredible but he's a bad guy who likes the taste of motor oil(not that it tastes bad or anything; a little bit of it is actually kinda alright). After 4 months, I'm still in World 2. See my other post about me being dumb.

I mean you could always just read a guide but what are you a lame POE fanboy?

Once you get to W2 a lot of things open up. Lots of ways to get free gems if you stick around. Later in the game between Giant mobs, boss drops, mini-bosses, and colosseum among other things, you can get hundreds of free gems each week very easily.

Okay i have now finished world one and entered world two. i dont know where you are but what i found to be extremely helpful to lvl up and get stronger is to do dungeon runs. i have now spend about 1 hour doing the W1 dungeon and my character has become farm stronger somehow. i was now able to defeat the boss and progress.

I am 100% F2p and i'd say if i started again it would be even easier to progress with the added things. There will certainly be bottle necks. Every world and addition to stats and mechanics will drastically change what is important. From what i remember i was aiming to find ~ 40% hit rate to finish Amarok ofc using as much food as i could to help survive. I can also recommend dungeons can help you with bonus stats among other things.

People can reach world 5 in a month, blaming your lack of progress on p2w is not a good way to look at games.

With 3 active hours on record, how much have you actually progressed and unlocked?
There's a lot of bonus stats to be had from different systems, which should help you grind levels quicker in better areas.

P2W will always be a factor in these games, but this one seems somewhat manageable so far in my opinion.

I've been lucky enough with RNG to not have to spend any $$$ on card slots and such yet, but I'm sure I'm gonna get suckered into spending at least 20$on this game in the end. Though, I think 20$ is fine for the content I'm enjoying.

My 2 cents here. So don't rush W2. By then you should be in the 200 level account range which allows you to have 5 characters. Focus them on making gold and start slowly increasing those alchemy passive + the stamps. The boost seems small but these will 100% start stacking and will make a big difference. Also look into skills that boost damage. One more tip is getting the dungeon book passive that increases your damage according to the dungeon credits you have earned.

There is tons of small things that will help. Don't rush it and I promise you they will make your character very strong.

Here's a few suggestions for you to help you on the way.

1) Look at your AFK Info in the area to see what your survival chances are.
2) Grind those crafts and farm items to make better gear.
3) Use your highest quality upgrade stones on all of your gear (you can use the mystery upgrade stones on legs, feet and accessories.)
4) Participate in dungeons especially during happy hour and purchase Non-Dungeon Stat upgrades from the dungeon shop (if you have rank 20 set the dungeon to drop Dungeon Flurbos to purchase the upgrades with.)
5) Invest some merits into Goblet of Hemoglobin up to 20 or 30.
6) Purchase food slots from the gem store and fill these up with golden foods, potions and normal foods.
7) Assign cards to improve your defence, accuracy and damage. Also look at the Sets to see if there's any sets you can equip to aid you.
8) Upgrade anything and everything to improve your survival odds and overall damage such as alchemy, postal orders, shrines, stamps, etc.
9) Participate in skills that aren't optimal for your character such as mining, logging, fishing, worship etc. You can even upgrade your forge for more skill exp both with cash and by handing in items to level your smithing skills. These will give you more talent points you can then add to your combat build.

It's worth to know that eventually you'll never be able to not take damage, however food and talents invest in the goblet will mitigate much of it as long as you're doing enough damage yourself that you're not taking too much damage from spending half a decade on a single monster.
