No option to purchase Autoloot

Title says it all. My friend's "menu" button has an option to purchase/activate Autoloot but I don't have that option. I found a Reddit post saying it 'appeared' for some players after teleporting to town for the first time, but that didn't work for me either. Is this option tied to some quest or character progress?

[Update} So the option to purchase autoloot just randomly appeared in my menu. From what i can tell this must be linked to the random purchaseable packs in the gem store. I've had popups for various packs all morning, but it wasn't until the 'autoloot pack' showed up in the gem store that the menu option to purchase autoloot appeared.
