EXP Converter talent suggestion
First off, I've been disappointed to learn that the best way to level a lumberjack or miner is to spec them out for combat, get levels, and then spec back.

When I first got the EXP converter talent, however, I was excited, thinking maybe it was the solution, letting me have a dedicated gatherer that wouldn't be penalized in leveling class EXP, but I quickly realized it's useless, because it transfers EXP from something hard-to-scale (mining/logging/etc.) to something easy-to-scale (combat).

If, instead, the converter talent simply added a percentage of specialized EXP to normal class leveling, that would at least be useful (if still horribly inefficient in comparison to combat, since gathering exp is so much lower). So, say, instead of getting 75% mining EXP and 25% class, I'd get 100% mining, and 25% class (or even better).

Otherwise, I can't see ever using that talent (unless you can max out gathering skills).

I slightly disagree about the miner. Your miner doesn't have to actually fight anything (that I'm aware of yet) to progress to a new section, he just needs to level mining. Lumberjacks, on the other hand, have to be able to progress through all the normal content to reach the individual nodes.

Unfortunately I don't see a way of getting my lumberjack to the "Tucked Away" map on W1 without respec'ing him to combat or waiting forever while it takes him ages to kill goblins/planks.

To be an efficient miner, you need a -lot- of class skill points. You can't efficiently get those mining.

There is the "convert better darnit" skill from W2 as well as the monster card from "Sandy Pot" that increases the exp conversion from star talents 12-24-36% that help boost your XP gain. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but you can check on the wiki.

He said level, not progress. The amount of skill points you get from leveling up your character is much bigger and faster than the skill points you get from leveling a specific skill.

I would agree that that getting class exp from exp conversion seems to happen extremely slowly. The only thing there that seems to work a little for me was that my miner could still fight enemies based on his damage from high strength and accuracy from other sources. His accuracy is the main issue keeping him from fighting very tough enemies, but I can just leave him fighting frogs or beans to give him more class exp. Plus there doesn't seem to be such thing as having enough frog legs and bean slices.

The amount of class juggling between fighting and gathering is a bit of a turn off for me. The game has such a heavy gathering and crafting progression that you can't escape it. Being a hybrid is terrible too. The entire "efficiency" system forces that even more. I hope you save your gems for talent respec pots because your gonna need a ton of them. Level all 7 characters up a bit, then respec to mass gather a bit. Rinse and repeat this forever.

the exp converter talent needs a HUGE buff to help gatherers stay gatherers. The whole switching back and forth is just terrible.

Yeah, I agree! :) I'd love to just progress a miner or chopper by gathering, with their own skills, areas, and quests, instead of them being munged with the combat classes. Maybe even allow the gathering professions to be chosen as a primary class.

As a simpler solution, I wish we could freely respec talents, and save talent builds, so that we could easily swap back and forth as needed.

Another thought (in case the idea of free respeccing is too onerous):

Allow for a second build tab to be unlocked per toon. These tabs duplicate the talent tabs, so you can take the same talent points and talents, but configure them differently (i.e., gatherer vs. combat), and then activate one build or the other as needed. As you get new points, you can add them to both builds (if you want), or just update the active build. Respeccing continues to work as it does now.

Shoot, might be nice to unlock even more build slots that that! :) (Boss build, AFK fighting build, foreground fighting build, etc.)

If the dev is hard set on not changing this there is one very simple implementation that can help a ton. That is allow a global drop similar to exp balloons be smaller in size but more frequent in drops. For example you go out with your DPS archer/bowmen and dedicate 2 hours of active farming. You come back with a handful of exp balloons and pass em to your gatherers to pop for combat exp.

It doesn't interfere with any current system and makes hunting even more exciting. All the while allowing you to level your gatherers and not make it as tedious as it is now.

I feel like every thing in the game is going to be tedious until you get to 7+ characters. World 3 should be raising the cap to 12 characters, and at that point you should be able to rake in enough balloons as is between Alchemy Shop, Level-Up gifts,Post Office and Quest rewards, and the Jmans Birthday Skill every day, plus whatever new sources may come with World 3
