However there are a few situations that I can say you absolutely do not want to waste it on.
1) If a mission needs you to afk then you need to use the afk mechanic as the candies do not count as far as I know with the 2 missions I had tested it on.
2) Similar to the first point there are several constellation challenges which several will require you to afk in a certain screen. Again time candies do not count for these.
AFAIK Candies do work as going AFK, but you have to take into account some specific tasks (weekly guild task to claim 6+ hours of AFK time comes to mind) or as you said, some constellations, require you to AFK for several hours STRAIGHT IN ONE GO.
So, with a 72 hrs candy, you could fill a requirement that asks you to AFK for 48 hours. But a 12hr candy won't work at all in that case. Can't even spend 4x12hr candies to fill 48hr requirements, since it has to be in a single sitting.
Does it really? Guess my mistake was using 1-hour candies for afk tasks that required 2-hours or longer. Though have you tested it with longer candies yourself?
Still probably not the best way to use the candies but, if it does work then at least it isn't a total waste.
