There are 146 unique frames for the player. Because of how armor moves with your arms/legs, I would need to draw 146 frames for EACH armor set.
There are something like 200 pieces of armor -- shirt, pants, and shoes.
That would be 29,000 unique frames just for armor to show up, which is 4x more images than their already are in the entire MMO.
Q: But you show the helmet, can't you just do what you did for that, but for the armor?
A: Since your head doesn't move, I only had to draw 2 frames for each helmet -- 1 for climbing up a rope, and 1 for everything else. Since mining/chopping/catchingfishing/running/fighting with a sword/bow/wand/dying all involve different movement of arms (shirt) and legs (pants/shoes), you can see why that would just be impossible.
Is there a smart way to do this? Maybe, and maybe I'll figure it out, and do it :D
But until then, I cannot :[
Part of games like this is making your characters look cool. Most of gameplay for a lot of people is revolved around being awesome looking. Hats just ain't enough.
I mean you say idle as if that changes anything. Thats entirely a gameplay factor and has nothing to do with cosmetic functions. I simply don't want to play a game looking at a naked blob.
Sounds like you have mistaken this game for a dress-up game.
In isolation, that sounds like a fun automation problem. :) Plug in the base image, and have a program generate the needed frames.
I'm fine with it as it is, though! Increases in gameplay content are far more interesting to me. :)
Bruuuuhh..... In your previous posts you literally wrote that you are not wasting more time on F2P game where silly cosmetics are not visible on character ... cosmetics are indeed trivial addition to most games. Looks like u r THAT kind of person pumping own ego with cosmetics in games >_>
If I could suggest something ... go play CS GO and pimp ur gun haha well this game became skin-fest so should be good for you.
Listen, its not about playing dress up. Its about the total experience. My complaint here is the same as when you go to play one of those mobile gacha games and see "active skills" which effectively mean its not at all what it promised to be.
I saw this game and it had a picture of clothed characters. I went in and everyone was naked. You may not think looks or character design matters but for me thats a deal breaker. With fancy outfits the stick figures look good but with only hats they just don't appeal to me.
Calling my preferences shallow and trivial just makes no sense because we are here to enjoy ourselves playing a game. Part of that game is making a character. Character design matters and anyone who thinks it doesn't should never make a game. Thats directed at you btw not at the dev of this game.
