Its because it can be played on the web and mobile so its really helpful to use a google account or email instead.

You can just use an alternative email to register an account if you are so displeased in using your Google account or the email you use on your Steam Account.

I actually find this particular one kinda annoying, why do I need to use a google or email account when I'm on Steam ? I have seen other developers do this kind of stuff before like Ubisoft for example. This is not the way to go LavaFlame2, you need to add it asap.
I know you have web and android progression but a 3rd option for those of us who want to play here on steam is needed. Besides as soon as you finish the tutorial you get the "sync up" thing appear and you cant start fresh even if you wanted it, so it should be an option not an obligation.

i uninstalled it once i got to the link screen, if i want to link to my email ill play it on my phone

For steam and pc games i shouldn't have to go through extra hoops just to play the game, steam is enough

This is a mobile game that was put up on Steam, maybe the dev will change it in the future to allow a steam account as he is pretty good with listening to the players about wanted changes. Give it time as the game is still pretty new. Maybe revisit in a few months and see.

I have the same issue, I played when it was first released earlier today and used the code to link my google account and steam game. I just tried to play again and got a new code to link my account again, that is just ridiculous, if it's linked it should be linked. Gonna delete it from Steam since no need to play there if it's using my web account and needs to link every time I start the game. If it doesn't run the same on web as it does on Steam now I guess I'll just give it the review it deserves and stop playing.
