What helped me finally defeating that stupid sphincter Witch was:
1) Focusing on my Ancient crafted leaves. Making sure they all had at least one "Blower Enemy Damage" prop.
--This includes leveling up all my Ancient crafted leaves to 10/10.
--Note: I defeated the Witch before I got all my Ancient crafted leaves to 10/10 levels. But leveling up your Ancient leaves is crucial. It will serve you in the future, not to mention the immediate benefit of your own personal progression.
2) Farming alchemy mats when appropriate so I can convert them into curses.
3) Leveling up on Tower Levels - It gives silver\gold coins. I auto-buy Leaf Damage and Leaf Damage Multiplier in the Silver and Gold token shop. It may not seem like much, but every bit counts when one is trying to 'climb'. Make sure you have your Silver\Gold token converters on.
4) Using Alchemy to increase the pet and unique leaf bonus that I deem most beneficial to my play style.
