Holy leaf and Holy Grail not working

I just performed my first MLC a bit over a day ago, and I'm back at the leaf tower, but although I have both the Holy Leaf activated as well as the Holy Grail equipped to both the play and the ALBs, I am getting no additional gold or silver coins. Am I missing something? Is there something extra I need to do to put them into effect besides equipping them? I don't remember doing anything extra during my first time through the tower.

Have you unlocked the "More tower rewards" upgrade? I think that might be it

And, obviously, don't forget the various leaf shop upgrades to give enemies more rewards.
