Received an error when trying to register, so didn't even get far enough to get an email. The same went for trying different credentials.
Error #1: Invalid Result. Please try again later.
I'd say try a different computer or even different user account.
I.e. unless it's not worked at all for several days, it's probably a temporary server issue.
Again, you're commenting on a 2 year old thread. There's no reason for you to know this unless you dig through my profile but I would have commented with a solution if I had come up with one. However, I'm not looking to solve the dev's issues. I'll provide feedback and reasonable help/suggestions, but it's their game and their income, and it's up to them to care or not care. If I am the only person who experienced the issue, or if it's a minority of players, then Cheese doesn't have much reason to spend time fixing it instead of spending that same time making new content.
That's fully understandable and it's their prerogative, but it sucks for those who don't have a second option or some knowhow like I do.
Honestly, as someone who has built login systems, I'm surprised that they didn't use literally any other preexisting solution. It's really not hard to build one from scratch but it's far more secure and robust to just use some other solution (steam, google, etc). Those typically have entire dev teams behind them to ensure they have widespread compatibility.
However, in conclusion, if you ever experience computer issues, I'll tell you an inside secret:
1. Shut down
2. Restart
3. (if those didn't work) Check the plug on the back
Solves 99% of issues
;)
