Early tower strategy?

I'm playing on my season account atm. It's been so long since my first ever tower attempt on my main account that I can't remember the best way to start accumulating damage.

At the moment, I just unlocked the tower and am still only in the billions for obsidian and benotite leaves. So I don't have many of their damage upgrades. Thus I cannot kill any enemies and die on the first floor of the tower.

Is trading the only way to significantly increase my leaf counts in order to purchase more damage upgrades, so that I can survive long enough in the tower to collect some artifacts and then hit up the cheese pub? I haven't been getting very lucky with my trades and haven't accumulated that much cheese yet, so trading is very slow going.

Accumulating damage: get the raw damage upgrades, not the percent damage upgrades. And get equipment drops. Don't waste tokens on health upgrades.

Trading isn't great for getting leaves unless you already have them. Seeds are where you get your resources from. Have Racoono following you around (outside the tower, obviously).

Thanks for the tips. I'm working on getting from the billions to the trillions so that I can actually unlock seeds for the post-volcano leaves, but no luck with trades yet.

Printer printers from Mythic leaves and up, plus one or two levels in a bigger printer room will help. Otherwise, let the game run for a few days (offline or online) until you have enough for your first seed. It's hard sometimes to stop crunching for a while, I know.

One thing that helped me was to auto BLC in order to make the "BLC Ring" Equipment more potent. Now the following may be an extreme example, but I BLC crunched for a good two weeks straight with about 30 seconds per crunch. Along with my crafted leaves, my Blowing Damage starts out at about 70b. BIllion, with a "B".

My advice would be to BLC crunch as quick as you can, for as long as you want\feel comfortable. Yes, one would not be progressing through the tower while BLC Crunching, but its a great way to help build up a minimum Blowing Damage base amount that makes the damage upgrades in silver and gold coin shops that much more potent - which in turns leveling up in the tower that much easier.
