I just tested it a few times and it appears that whatever your coin count is up in the right hand list of currencies is what you keep when you crunch PLUS the bonus coins listed on the BLC page. So as long as you keep a little bit of coins tucked away every time, the Crunchy Coins passive is effective.
It isn't as effective as it could be, especially for people just pushing quick crunches since you will likely have on auto coin spending and will likely have next to nothing to carry over after a crunch. I think an appropriate fix would be carry over a small percent of invested coins as well. Something like:
Crunch Coins: 0.1% of invested coins persist after Big Leaf Crunch. Each level adds 0.1%. (level 1 = 0.1%, level 2 = 0.2%, level 3 = 0.3%, level 4 = 0.4%, level 5 = 0.5%) I would cap it at 5 instead of 10. To give you an idea what this would be like, if you prestiged around 400 million coins and invested them all, you'd get back 400k on a crunch at level 1 of this perk. At level 5 of this perk you'd get back 2 million coins.
