The only thing I can think of is that when you have several pickaxes, sometimes they can merge into a single stack with a number underneath. But they work as a single pickaxe and if you sell it, you'll sell the whole stack at once for the price of a single item. There is a way to unstack weapons and it should be somewhere in the discussions or maybe in the faq.
But if your pickaxes simply disappear in the main hub, then I don't know how this could be.
If your pickaxes are all on one stack, the whole stack is gone.
To unstick pickaxes and other normaly unstacked items you have to put the stack in a container like a chest and then loot them one by one via clicking and not as one stack via alt(?)
My pickaxes were not in a stack when I faced this bug. Ironically my woodcutter axes were in a stack, but they have not (yet) disappeared. But thanks for the tip. I will keep an eye on my tools every time I finish prospecting. Also I am pretty sure that I did not accidentally trade my pickaxes. Yes, what you mentioned seems to be the case. It could be a bug related to the Gothic engine. This couldn't be reproduced in NoTR because the dialog wouldn't allow us to rapidly exit. Probably this is why the issue was not spotted by the original developers who wrote the engine
If you still have that savegame please upload it to the discord for someone to take a look at it.
In notr younhave to disable the fading effect in the dialogue window to be able to spam mining.
Unfortunately im not near my computer and cant take a look at how thats done. It was something in one of the inis...
Unfortunately I have overwritten the save file. I have bought 2 new pickaxes. They initially occupied separate slots in my inventory. But now they have stacked. So will keep an eye on them
Better safe than sorry ;-)
It is purely your behaviour during animations that use pickaxe like trying to skip some part of the animation to end it faster, to regain control of the character
