Quest Failed. Warning!! **BIG SPOILERS AHEAD!!**

In the quest, Howls in the night. I started this quest waaaaay after 'the Beast' hunt.
After finishing the hunt (Howls in the night) with Detlow, I talked to him again only to reveal that he himself was the REAL Beast. I killed him after learning the cold truth and the quest (Howls in the night) automatically failed. Saying that Detlow is dead.
Is this a bug or is it intended to be this way? Or is it something else?

You can get the quest by talking with the head of the woodcutters (they are nearby the charcoal burner camp).
I fixed this issue by just not talking to him.
Finish the quest first, then go to the city, Old Town, where Detlow lives. There you talk to him again and voila.

You do wood collection for village as paying debts quest. Then you wait a few days come back to woodcutters, chop some wood and become a woodcutter then you wait like a week or more and you get howls in the night quest when you ask for more work.

I haven't tried waiting another week to see if he got any more other work but I will make sure to come back later

You can also just get this by doing the regular woodcutting quest 2 times.

First time is normal, get paid.

Second time they offer to pay you with woodcutter armor or regular pay.

Third time is howl quest.

Actually, a pretty good quest especially as early as you can get it because you can kill over a dozen wolves, plus some zombies perhaps in the house you walk by, plus whatever else you can pull by, with a high level and invincible companion.

Just make sure you've got taking animal trophies first.

Thanks for the spoiler. MAybe I wanted to find out by myself and maybe this was more important than a secondary quest?
