This is the best game I've played since the Witcher 3. I'm in Chapter 5 now, 125 hours on the clock, and still not finished. What a great game. Thank you boys. Just donated 15 Euros, it was well worth it. PS: I played the GoG version with german TTS and DX11 renderer.

I can understand this. Usually they are crap.

But the german TTS is exceptionally good. They somehow managed it to sound like all the original voices from Gothic 2. It is brilliant, I love it.

Of course its nowhere near the quality of real voice actors, but its the best we can get today.

We don't care about quality. That means nothing.
Voices are stolen, it's immoral, simply illegal but unfortunately we can't do anything about it and that's our statement. I encourage not to speak about TTS in the future.

Wow, where does all this hate come from. I did't do anything illegal or immoral. I just enjoyed a video game.

Edit: Aahh, now I finally get it. You're all aboard with those Hollywood writers and actors who are afraid of loosing their jobs because of AI. Well, this is a very complex theme. There are certainly Pros and Cons.

Actually you missed the mark.

We don't hate you in the least, we hate AI Voices.
Quality doesn't matter, and Hollywood doesn't as well.

For AI to create a voice, you need someone else's voice as a base.
German and other TTS patches use original actors from Gothic games.

I don't think they ever asked them if they want their voices copied.
Or their families in case some actors died.
What if that same AI algorithm will be later used in NSFW content or simply sold commercialy with them not ever seeing a single dollar/euro.

That's why we will never support AI voices.

Well, thats a fair point of view. I can understand this.

On the other hand, if nobody wants to support and fund your project for a german translation, no money is lost. Those modders just made the best out of it.

And in the end: Its not about ethics, families, morals.... its all about money, right?

Please let me make just one more final statement. I personally would not have played or enjoyed the Mod without the voice pack. Simple as that. Cheers mate.

Thank you for bringing this up, I just realized what's happening. For that reason, I have deleted the AI voice mod for my Morrowind game and will certainly not use one for Gothic.
