I explored A LOT before going to the city and it was a pain to clear areas with tough enemies when you are underleveled. I've burned through a mountain of arrows/bols and cheesed a lot of enemies to do that. Not worth it. Advance, get to the city, and then explore the island.
Devs have confirmed that creatures don’t despawn between chapters, so it’s not like XP Is lost. Further down the line, some optional quests will become available when you transition chapters, but you can safely go into the next couple of chapters without worry of missing out.
] Monster Respawn does exist, but it won't "overwrite" already existing monsters.
>Your exp is safe if not cleared everything in chapter 1.
Partially correct, partially I disagree. There are natural hostilities between mobs and every now and then their areas overlap which makes them kill each other. In later game entirely different species of enemies show up in the territory of weaker ones so once again you might run into some "friendly fire" between them which leads to a partial loss.
Overall it doesn't make much of a difference. I definitely didn't clear the map before entering the city in Chapter 2 and I still finished at lvl 55. I didn't even spend the last 120 or so LP I had extra. As long as you are doing side quests you will be fine.
- Monsters do not respawn, they just add new ones to the existing packs
- Ore and wood do not respawn in CH2, it will respawn in CH3 and CH5
- You do not have a skill to get teeth, tongues and most likely seeds until you visit the city, and those are literally everywhere. So you miss on a lot of money this way already
- You have low extraction skill until you get to the city, so if you decide to gather wood and nodes you will lose on even more money (and this one is huge, if used correctly)
- You lose nothing when you rush to the city
Rushing to the city asap is the best way to get the most
No, in Archolos there is one chapter that is best skipped and it's Chapter 1.
Because seeds are unlocked in chapter 2 (every beast you kill have seeds), you have better loot that way.
Also, if I am not mistaken, it is far easier (or possible at all) to unlock specifics hunter traits at chapter 2, thus, unlocking even more loot for each kill.
But afterward, yes, imo, it's better to clean every chapter.

I know some CH2 quests can't be done later.
Same for a Reluctant student, did in chap.2 or 3.
Cannot confirm or infirm for the rest.
Ressource nodes reset in chapter 3
