Jarod is legitimately one of the most terrifying game characters I've ever experienced.
The atmosphere in all of his scenes is so tense and creepy, his wonky eyes piercing through your soul, his gravelly voice striking fear in your heart... just wanted to give the devs a shoutout on not only making a really enjoyable game, but creating one of the most horrifying video game characters ever, in my opinion. I was legitimately ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself in every one of his scenes!

Everytime I hear his theme Jarod is Here, I get on edge and feel my pulse rise. Thats why he is the coolest character. He is scary that he leaves you with slight PTSD for his music and his voice.

I won't go into a taxi ever....

I hate him so much, everytime I encounter him I groan.

He is kinda porrly written. Take the cab scene with the hostage in the trunk... Jarod exits the car, leaving OPEN DOORS and window to the passenger seet, so he clearly does not care about the passenger. Then he proceeds to beat up his victim for a whole minute, then return to the car, and... shots the kid? What's the logic in that?

If he would want to get rid of the witness, he would just shot right away instead of leaving so many ways for him to escape. It looked like a test, where if you try to escape he will shoot you in the back, but if you will stay, and show him that you don't really care about what he is doing he will just keep driving like nothing happened.

I mean yeah he is kinda a stereotypical villain type of guy, but the main fun part about his character is exactly what you mentioned: he is unpredictable. Anything you do could piss him off. Anything happening could lead to you either dying or being left alive, depending on what Jarod wants or decides to do with you, spontaniously.

And who is the witness in question? Some kind of runaway teen that the cops will immediately put under arrest and send to the work camp. Whatever the teen witnessed about Jarod will not even be relevant for them. Pretty sure Jarod has nothing to worry about.

Personally don't find him creepy, even in the scene where he killer a crosser in his taxi

The game certainly targeted younger audiences, the whole half serious/half humour i don't find it entertaining at all, papa bear is just cringe worthy.

Maybe it would be different if i was 16 year old, i am not sure, but as 43 the game does not entertain me at all, i liked many of the scenes though, where they aren't talking but where you discover things yourself such as where you see memories of people and gather pictures and rings for the tree where they met.

Scenes like that it was good, if you are a teenager, you will probably like this game a lot.

Jarod is a murderhobo who will one day get himself killed for pissing off the wrong people.

I mean, consider what would happen if Stan and Mitch were just as murderous as he is.

I find Fanny far more terrifying. Believing she's doing the right thing with her self righteous bs. Jarod is interesting at least. I'm still trying to trigger the scene I missed with him, yet having to replay the Fanny segments is getting on my nerves.

That taxi ride there is dumb AF. No point in it.

I find the devs most terrifying. What they are trying to do through this game is horrible.

unpredictable, that's a good way to describe him, I never really knew what was gonna set him off, in one encounter, he warns you to run when he gets upset, before shooting off his gun at nobody, other times, he's willing to shoot a teen in the face because hes mad, even when your nice and gave him a lift in the rain. Just killing a teen because hes mad seemed a bit against his character considering his daughter was a teen, but maybe they where just trying to keep you on edge whenever he showed up. I never knew if I would die or not after my first encounter with him.

I'm 35 and liked it. Especially the tripy stuff.

? What are you talking about? Jarod is not scary at all. You must have had different interactions with him than I have had.

When I first played this game, enjoy the silence was the first scene. I feel like it is necessary to have that scene first to at least have the fear of Jarod for the rest of your journeys.

He was willing to kill a teen because if you talked to him like you supported the rebel movement, he would associate you with the group that his daughter joined up and died for. He basically sees you as the incarnation of what took his daughter away, given he doesn't know the actual truth about what happened that day, so he kills you for it.
