Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

This looks interesting, but it seems like I should wait for some patches
From the multiple sources I have gathered, these seem like major issues:

* Parrying doesn't work as of v1.0
* Combat is easily exploitable and immersion breaking
* Gear is unbalanced

These are deal-breakers for me, but I would love to know if/when the devs intend to fix this. Further, I would love to know YOUR opinion on how these things affect the game. I want to play on default/hard difficulty and have a tough but fair (and fun) time. I don't want to be able to cheese my way through things, nor do I want to be an overpowered button masher.

I don't know where you got that parrying doesn't work since I'm playing a build that focuses a lot on parrying and had zero problems with it.
Gear is not really "unbalanced". You can become overpowered if you minmax, but that's something that happens in pretty much every game with this much build freedom.

* Every major review outlet I sampled in the last 24 hours said they couldn't parry and gave up on it. It sounds like parrying windows may be gear or stat based -- Awesome if true....
* Min/maxing is fine. I just put on "what I think is the best" and move on. I don't play the meta. Alright, seems balanced then?
* My final concern then.... Exploitable combat: How bad is it? If I run from a foe and realize it stoped chasing me, how easily can I rain death upon it?

Just so you know - there is a whole skill-tree solely for parry, where you have lots of options to improve parry ex. the parry window. People that complain about parry haven't learnt- or played long enough to open up for "true" parry and put points into it. Also - I've seen people HOLDING the button when they try to parry, you just need to click ONCE when you want to parry - it's night and day. And again - take use of the parry skill-tree, parry is not an issue IMO

Exploitable combat: yes it's true, you can just get to higher ground ex. on a rock and the enemy will just stand there trying to hit you, and then you can just fire away your magic/bow whatever until he's dead - but it's a choice, don't like it, don't take advantage of it but I know what you mean. Other than that, I'm absolutely loving this game

Parrying works, confirmed.

Gear? Wait until you randomly stumble upon your first "FULL SET" in a random box.. not going to say where.. but basically increases your mana regen by 500% lol!

Oh man, lol. You know, items like this need context. If the player finds the set after a desperate adventure through a Wizard's lair, or by deciphering quest clues, that's amazing! On the other hand, if it's just randomly out there next to a bag of apples and a patch of grass, that.... that sucks.

I'll have to give this some thought. Thanks for the responses.

For now most sets I found were:
- Crafted by you
- Found at the end of a hard dungeon/quest
- Found randomly out there, but only one piece at a time scattered around the map (an early archery set is like that, mostly found in high places)
I can confirm parrying does work.
Combat is easily exploitable however. Enemies for example aren't capable of opening doors.
Not far along enough to know how unbalanced gear is but it would not surprise me and I tend to enjoy that.

It wont fly for melee characters at least, since you need to block or get hit (with weak enough to handle mobs) to level armor and shield skill for proper building, otherwise they may not survive blocking bossfights in round arenas with no cheese..although it might be a bit different than oblivion

Parrying works fine, reviewers are pedestrian idiots lol
Trusting game journalists in this day and age? Pathetic.

Says the guy offering an opinion no one asked for on Steam forums. LOL. Pretty sure you're projecting.

Can you even read? Like, literally?

And defending game journos is even more pathetic than trusting them. What a disgrace.

Parrying works, you're probably just really bad at it.

Pure, unadulterated, projection.

I didn't ask you to critique my research quality, did I? I asked you to talk about the game. Now go back into your cespool. You contribute nothing. Adults are talking.

Just moments ago, I staggered the first guard I came upon with a timed parry, and whacked him dead with two good blows to the head afterwards.
After that, still in the dungeon, I've discovered ... ... ... to my amazement it lead to ... ... ... ... and I only wonder what it will do when I ... ... ...

But I didn't expect anything less from a game that has music set to 70% by default, and an outright Hulduljod as the main theme.

10/10 I know I won't refund this absolutely no-nonsense, gritty, grim-dark, adventurous RPG.

Anything else?
