Just enter the game, make as many squads as possible, take the guns off those squads, and have your people fight zombies or bandits until you kill them all off down to the last person.
Then survive with just that last person for X days?
Do you need an HQ or any building standing? I would think roaming around solo in a car is the best option.
I Am Legend achievement guide. (Infection Free Zone)
If you have 1 last person alive, it is possible to fix a wall in a day, or even demolish metal one and build brick wall instead. It's quite easy, no need to roam, just reassign him whenever it's day to build/fix, and to squad during the night. you will need around 10-15ammo and about 10food to survive, and some metal/bricks depending on the wall you have, everything else is optional.
I would strongly suggest to have AK ready. Armor is optional as you main layer of defence are walls and your HQ
EDIT:
Actually I just noticed that there is a split option, so you can save one person in HQ, but additional advice I can give is to have this person in a squad first, and clear some zombies for acc bonus.
- use most easy start conditions, so max. people (don't mind the irony), max res, min. hordes
- Get a location with a single building (mid size) surrounded by woods. You need to be able to shoot in all directions (Oakland start will also do)
- you usually start with 3 squads
-> disarm 2 of them and start to look for vehicles (doesn't matter if the guys die)
-> leave 1 squad armed and start to look for guns, ammo and armor
-> DO NOT scavenge food!
- get all of your workers to collect wood
- let them build several layers of palisades and maybe some towers
- keep the range of an AR in mind
- you can use armed squads as well to defend, they will die from hunger too
Ok, here's the trick now
- use your armed squad and vehicles to collect food and meds, but do NOT deliver it to your HQ (leave it in your cars)
- if you run out of new vehicles, split your squad into your sole survivor and give him food in his inventory (he will eat it)
- wait till all other guys (include the kids) are dying from hunger and deliver everything in your HQ
- have your last guy an AR, plate armor and ammo on him
- survive (with me, it was fast forwarding to day 20 or so)
