Quest was bugged for me. I gave them 4 cans, then they asked for more. I gave them more, but nothing happend, instead they just repeated the whole 'you morron' thing, and asked for 4 cans again. How many times do they want to do that? Oo

It's not a bug for now.

Rolling in with guns seems to be the only way to deal with that particular NPC Event.
Yet there's no need to fight or trade to get your people back, just play it right ;)

u use exchange and drag food on their inventory (you are looser if u give them)

You put squad into HQ or storage, then choose that squad and look at bottom right of it's page, there 3 option, swap/trade, split and disband. You need to choose trade and then click on storage, then drag 4 cans of food into squad inventory slots. Also if your squad get some weapon but mistake, you can drag them into storage to unarm them.

take control of an active squad bottom left has an exchange button left click then choose your wherehouse and a second wind of your wherehouse inventory opens just move the weapons of your squad in the WH and move from WH 4 food into squads inventory and then go there.

Move more squads towards the hostiles and eliminate them.... simple, don't give them your resources.

yeah, I ended up having an armed squad too close, i wanted some backup, so a shootout ensued.

A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

They capture one of my squad, tell them you will give them food, send the rest of your squad fully armed, blast their ass and save your captured squad.

Quest was simple for me, it sprung as i entered a building with 3 squads so 1 was captured and the other 2 "uncaptured" them, very fast...very painfully

What is the way to "Play it Right." May I ask? I keep running into them and getting them killed or just reload.

Easy way is to talk back until they give up.
But I prefer to get my first assault rifles from them.

Just talk, that don't seem so hard.

What OKOK suggested, go with weapons, talk things through, stay firm.
If you keep saving and loading, this quest is very buggy. if you go in with guns sometimes there will be dialogue, and sometimes it will go straight to a fight. And because I'm not sure if there will be a quest chain from this, I have to keep reloading to make sure I got all the dialogue.
