The 3 S's (squads, skills and survivors).
To be fair a lot of these points and issues are wrapped up in many other aspects of the game, a lot of which still need balancing, which is to be expected at this point in development. So this isn't criticism, I'm just pointing out what irked me most from a balance perspective.

Squads:

It would be awesome if we could choose what survivors go into each squad, the random nature can make optimising squads annoying.

Such as making a sniper squad that gets survivors with +50% accuracy skill, a -presumably- redundant skill for the role.

Or an expedition squad that has +20% driving speed as opposed to -20% fuel consumption.


Skills:

Some of the skills are pretty useless or inconsequential.

Such as +20% vision range, squads already have a pretty large vision range and it doesn't increase weapon range so it does basically nothing.

The +50% accuracy skill -presumably- doesn't do anything for snipers, will have little to no effect on shotguns (?) and will only have any notable effect on the assault rifle, which is *by far* the worst long-term option for a weapon and should be avoided at all costs. It burns through ammo *much* faster than any other weapon, metal is needed to make ammo and metal is limited, so snipers and shotguns are the best guns and they will get little to no effect from this skill.

It would be *super* awesome if we could chose what skills a survivor gets when they reach 100 in a skill.


Survivors:

I hope one day we can rename them like we can with buildings. I just really want a squad made up of;

This would be awesome I would like to add my friends names into the squads it would give the game more depth and feeling in my book

Squads themselves need a lot of additions and refinements. As it is they are functional, but they need improvements. We need to be able to expand squads to 6, then 8 members imo. Then also customize their gear.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
