Illness Question
I looked and I cannot find anything about illness in the discussions so sorry if this has been asked. I am running into an issue where citizens get ill, the illness multiples, the sick grow in number, then they turn. I have researched the med center and medicine as well as the infection reducer of 30%. How do you actually treat your citizens during this time before you have an actual vaccine?

I believe they auto recover with enough medicine.

Usually at this point pop will be around 400 or more. So some death is welcome and unavoidable.

A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Please remember, that your Research Center produces research materials when you're not researching. Just make a big lab with many workers, and books will be no problem!

I have noticed since I got back on since the update is that research appears to be more fleshed out. You need more of them and it is also a good idea to scavenge education sites first.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I hadnt noticed any research books being produced there. I will play again look for that. In the past i have micro managed my research employees to ensure uptime when not actively researching. Thank you again, so much for the game, your time and the response.
Maybe the OP don't know how to search the vaccine? Maybe he don't do the missions or rejected the asking of help from Miller?
How can we have the vaccine rejecting her by missclick?

Humm, the profile of Kimara23 says he has 0 games...

My profile says I have 0 games? I have 519, I just had to check to confirm. Where in my profile are you seeing 0 games? Just wondering.
Steam doesn't always show the same /full info to everyone.

FWIW I see nearly 3000 achievements but 0 inventory (because its set to private)
It doesn't say how much you've played IFZ (sometimes people see mine saying 1000+ hours) that I saw but you have globetrotter

Oh, thank you for the information. Much appreciated.
I have the same question about what steps can be taken until you get the vaccine. Unfortunately, all the answers seem to have gone off on a tangent, and Rider's response, although indicated by a developer as answering your question, actually doesn't. The ill aren't in the hospital where you can simply provide them with meds, and you specifically asked about the time prior to getting the vaccine, so I don't know why the mention of researching the vaccine.

Here's my scenario. A person fell ill 3 days ago and I immediately sent my 2 toughest squads to get the vaccine. They just now finished all the back-and-forth in the questline and are scavenging the vaccine, so I know that's coming soon. In the meantime, in these 3 days, 23 people have now become ill, and some have turned. I built a large research center early game with 33 workers and have fully researched the medicine, communication, food, and infection categories (minus the vaccine). My population is only 150.

So I have the same question for others that may have not immediately started on the quest to find a vaccine and are running into similar issues. How do you manage such a rapidly spreading illness prior to getting the vaccine?

Furthermore, is it mandatory for everyone, regardless of playstyle, to immediately start the vaccine questline? I'm glad I did because this illness spreads ridiculously fast.

EDIT: My 2 squads finished scavenging at the site of the vaccine and came up empty. I suppose the only way now is to wait for whenever an alpha shows up. Now I'll watch to see if the number of people ill keeps going up.

From my experience, even with the vaccine Miller gives you, you'll still have deaths in your bases. But as soon as you have it, you can research for a better vaccine, and it will work. (for only 1 year but it works. You need to do the research each year before the old one stop to be effective).

To answer your question in the simplest way possible: yes, you can heal ill citizens by keeping them in a hospital and supplying them with medicines. You can't heal only the ones who already turned.
In your hospital, did you select the vaccine production, or is it still set to creating medkits?
