Broken car too far from HQ to repair

I got 3 cars who got destroy by the infected far away from HQ.

I assign the "fix" option with 2 workers.

However, during day time, the workers can't walk the long distance to repair with mats required in time and just come back home by night time with nothing repaired at all.

Technically, we can't use the destroyed cars anymore as they are too far.

Is there any "pick up trailer" or mechanic to fix those far away cars?

I've tried everything, can't seem to find a solution.

it would be nice if our characters could fix our own car when we are out that far I have lost more cars that way being too far out. Plus to honestly think about it most of us know basic car skills so yeah they need to let us fix our own cars when we are too far from base.

Maybe they should let them slow roll back, that would be better than losing the cars, esp on maps where cars are very limited.

If you tell your squad to fix it, they will fix it enough to drive back to base. And I mean just click your squad and then the vehicle. Do not click the repair option. Make sure you pick a time that they will be safe as its a long slow drive cause they only fix it enough to drive. I send an extra squad with them to protect them. Then after I get to base or close enough, I click repair and workers to fix it.

Not on a car with a red X, can't do anything with it. It kicks the squad out and they can't enter it, car is actually grayed out. All you can do is click the car and select repair.

I dont know. It always works for me. I just click it like you are telling them to get into the vehicle. And they do a short repair and the vehicle damage bar is a short red bar and drivable. It just drives very slowly.

I just started watching a play through episode and I think the red x on vehicles is possibly a new feature? I dont have that in my game yet. So maybe you wont be able to repair very damaged vehicles anymore.......

OMG! Yes! it works! Jesus... they don't show that in the tutorial. So technically, you bring a squad and tell them to move to your car or vehicle and just stay there, the car will auto repair to a certain limit and you will be able to move it slowly back to base.

I made the mistake to click "repair" to bring workers there to fix... but I didn't know you could ask your squad to fix it on the spot just by hopping on the car itself...

It's not a special feature. Just move a squad on any broken car ( fully broken ) and they will fix it. Don't click the repair option on the car or the squad won't be able to move on it.

Once the squad is on the car, click the car and you will see a UI screen with a progression repair bar that will slowly move up. Once full, get in the car and move back to base to fully repair by worker.

Like he said above, maybe bring an extra squad to defend the car the other the squad just in case.

it would be great if another vehicle could drive out to help with repairs. Similar how you can send oil tank truck then take some fuel to get a car up and running.

I just figure it out. Take a squad and click on the vehicle that is broken ( fully broken ).

Make sure you don't click the option to "repair" the car or it wont work. Once your squad is on the car, just leave your squad on top of the car.

Then click the car itself and you will see a blue bar progression pop up window that tells you that the squad is actually manually repairing it.

Once the car is repaired ( around 10% ), your squad will auto move it back to your HQ. This is something that wasn't shown in the tutorial so I kinda just figure it out.

The car will be very slow. So be careful on your way back. I'd suggest to rest in a house at night or bring another squad to escort your car.

That would be great to have some sort of "truck trailer" that fixes far away car. That would actually be awesome.
