Oil truck is meh
I was hoping the oil truck would be able to go to a gas station and fill it's entire tank then be able to deliver fuel both to the warehouse and even to other vehicles if they run out of fuel outside the base.

But it seems it can only store 4 oil cans (less than a small sedan!), and it's super slow too. It seems a bit meh compared to the other vehicles. While it has potential for much longer range than other vehicles, the tiny storage negates that possible benefit.

Maybe we could get a flamethrower attached to it?

Also.... I used to spend a lot of time playing a game called Warzone 2100 (it's open source now, find it online). It has a scavenger faction, and one of their vehicles is an ice cream truck with a weapon on it (can't remember if it was a machine gun or flame thrower). Is there any chance we could get an ice cream van in IFZ? Maybe complete with cheesy ice cream van music? I can't imagine a post-apocalyptic world in which survivors are roaming the streets in weaponized ice cream vans.

Being able to mount weapons or other stuff (armor, sensors, nitros, whatever...) on vehicles would be super-cool. I know there's already plans for squad gear, but we should have vehicle gear too. Also drones would be sweet at some point, to help with early detection of swarms (I know CCTV is hinted at and will likely be added at some point, but drones would be mobile CCTV and could be set to patrol).
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

it has 20 fuel capacity, compared to normal cars, that has 3 capacity

you can drain fuel from it for your other vehicles.

while you have a squad in the truck, at the bottom is a bunch of buttons, the button left of the star, it is the fuel can with liquid drop on it, press that and you wil receive fuel cans in the truck storage

And how do you get the fuel can from the truck storage in to another vehicle? There's no way that I know of to move vehicle stored resource in to a squad, it can only be sent to a warehouse or HQ. So if you've got a car stuck out in the city somewhere, how do you get fuel to it?

after the fuel is in the car/truck storage, LEAVE the car/truck and then klick with the exchange icon (two arrows) at the car/truck. u can move the fuel to ur squad. its complicated, but it works.

on the same row as the star (HQ) & fuel can button, there is a button called exchange, the icon is x2 horizontal arrows, it is on the most left, use that to exchange the fuel canisters to a squad outside the vehicle, the go to the vehicle which needs fuel, and on the squad menu, again at the bottom, most left button (x2 arrow icon) to place the fuel into the other vehicle.

ahhhh! So that's what "Exchange" does!? I always though it was exchange between squads (thinking of Exchange Students, IRL). So this is also how you can properly choose what gun they use!

@Devs: Better name for the button could be "Inventory" and it's icon a backpack? The "Exchange" and two arrows thing made me think it was something completely different.

The 'Exchange' is for all inv transfers, be them from car to squad, between squads (you can move the people too!), or to warehouses.

Yeah. Using the truck, it's relatively slow, next to no storage (which I think is fine), and is arduous to handle fuel with. You have to dump the fuel, throw the fuel into a warehouse, repeat the last two for how much fuel you have due to squad space, get back in the truck and order them to drive away AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so it doesn't consume the fuel you just spent five minutes unloading. I wouldn't doubt I may have been using it wrong, however there are few resources (if any) to read about fuel management. This is my experience.

It's mid.

Lol, yeah... Outside of micromanaging squads, this fuel transfer process is one of the most painful experiences in the game, lol. Should work just like HQ does... Drive a car up within range and have it autofill from the tanker.

The tanker has a huge durability, which makes it ideal for tanking during expeditions, rather than your little sedan getting broken while miles away from base

Yeah, but any benefit of it's durability or fuel tank is completely obsoleted by the tiny storage capacity. What's the point of travelling all that way just to collect 4 units of resource?

I've found that oil tanker is good at running over swarms (and just saved 10 squads trapped in abandoned building near by base by driving the tanker round it to squish the hoard) but it's generally too slow to even get there in time.

If we could mount weapons on vehicles then the tanker would make an excellent, albeit slow, mobile weapon platform.
