there is a nice place with a river to the right, which can slow down zombies movement, and a good cluster of buildings next to eachother, where it only needs a few small bits of wall or razor wire etc, and it has decent protection.
maybe that map location can help you a bit too
NO BILLIONS
FIX ZOMBIE COUNT
That's even pointed out in starting a game, too - I tried where I live now (West London) because the map had my house on it and hey, why not - but I was warned very strongly that the area had a high population & was therefore liable to swarms of infected.
I lasted 8 days that time.
Currently in Oxford, using Magdalen College as my base, but there is almost no ammo/weaponry to be had and although research levels are great, I have almost no people as despite the Antenna there has never been as much as one person respond to invitations and I get almost none of the story I have seen in YT playthroughs - so if Cambridge UK is good I think I'll take that tip with gratitude & give that a go, as I am wondering how much better balanced the 'official' starting locations are, bearing in mind this is still very early access only just out of Alpha state.
This is going to be a fantastic game - once I have learned the GUI and how to control it properly, that is

i have the strange feeling that everytime u log back into the game the origin settings about the hordes are set back and as if there are spawn Points they generate with every load new hordes so if u take a coffee break go to lunch or phone, everytime u enhance the amount of infected if u come back, until u have so many hordes u cant see... https://pasteboard.co/q7DHL4wovXH6.jpg
seriously i have no problem with swarms in the later game when i have the chance to retaliate.. but this is no fun.. my people scarv to slow build to slow and the infected crunsch it down faster then i can repair and rebuild.. with the few man i have, this is insane and i set it up as easy...
and iam so sick restarting the maps over and over cuz of this..
So some things I see on the pic.
You have a population of 67, but only one Squad and also 20 additional Weapons.
your research Center looks big it is full stuffed?
only one Gate finished means you have 4 Defenders + one squad 10 -30 researcher?
do me a favor, load the morning save, get additional 2-3 Squads even if you only have Pistols they should handle the few Infected.
At this point you should have 16 squad Members 3-5 Researcher rest 46.
For me I would go with 10 builders and 36 gatherer.
So my honest Feedback your starting location are the worst thing of all i had.
Only big buildings who need tons of Materials and a lot of builders you don´t have.
more Squads can handle your swarms with ease.
If you want to give the game a second chance add me to your Friends list I will help you
