Most Important Buildings to get fast
Here is my list of "Must Have" buildings within your first week

NOT A TROLL OR CLICK ANYTHING SO DO NOT BE TOXIC
  • For the life of me... I am thinking... farms and cooking... because so far, my people die of starvation not the infected around week two... thanks for your honest input.

    Side note added confusion
  • Also... I believe they have increased up mobs.. because when I started a day ago in my first game, I was doing well... started a new game today... no tutorial... holy sh*t balls.
  • So back to tutorial I went.... and still they were massively different and even more in numbers and size... with low settings and extra resources. Getting a bit confused.
  • Started a new game a third time, no location, and even worse... where I am swarmed on day one... and can't play.

    Let the advice fly.... please

Farms, then a few small kitchens (work in parallel), then few small barns, set fields to use fertiliser from barns (massive increase in crops), set kitchens to use meat (get extra ration per cycle), then cannery (further increases food).

For defence: Create clusters of wood towers in early game, close enough so they can defend each other. Tech rush to reinforced defences which are much more durable than all the other stuff. Use rows of barbed wire to thin and slow the swarm before it reaches your IFZ.

I've never had food issues. There's food everywhere if you have squads out scavenging, unless you're playing on some totally rural map with no building anywhere. Farming is usually one of the last things I do after guns, reinforced walls and reinforced towers.

Depends how big your IFZ is. I have over 630 people and they eat a LOT of food each day.

You're not going to have a group that big after a week. Even going 50 days I've never had a community that big.

1. Warehouse (+300 resources)
2. Shelter (cover up all ur resident)s
3. Research (speed up your tech, go for farming and gun factory first)
4. Farm (3 with fertilizer are more then enough initially)
5. Barn (you need this quick to produce fertilizer and meat)
6. Tower (attract attention from hordes)
7. Cooking (late one, coz you can survive with cans)
8. Gun factory (you need to make ur own AKs in some maps early if you can't find any)

This is my early game routine. I'm kind of repeating the sequence until mid game

how da fuq you get so many people? i'm day 40 and barely broke 100. meanwhile the hordes already killed a few squads.

damn i need to get better

i always go straight for farms + kitchen. once i have excess pistols, i then start building towers around my buildings. then research lab. walls usually go last.

Day 1
U need 6 squads to salvage on day 1 to 4.
Send all worker to get wood.

Day2 send one squad to get the 1 car that will show up. Use this car to search for more cars and netual group.
Setup small hq near other building u want to tear down. Change worker to tear down building at once. This can jam up your hq inventory realty fast. So don't keep salvaging.. switch to mass builders from time to time.

Research fortify towers.
And house
skip shelter and warehouse.

Day 4
Build fortify towns in pair in 4 corner of your base..

Reduce your squad when necessary keep pistol available for urgent spawn to counter swam. Keep squad active if they can pair with cars. Else disband them. Make the build tower is better.

oh yeah, keep a squad or two around your base in a car. they can be used as rapid response for areas that don't have towers.

Get a decent sized warehouse going before anything else, and always have wood income.

Then, what I've started doing in the first few days is to build farms and a single barn, 3 or so farms and the barn doesnt have to be huge. Then I build a large cook house, big enough for around 30+. Only assign enough cooks to process meat and stockpile grain. Then, when winter rolls around I can take all those farmers and assign them to the cookhouse to process all the grain.

I should add that you should increase the number of farms gradually, I like to have at least 12 farmers (6 fields) by the start of the second year.

The days are shorter in winter, but the rations should make people work a little harder to compensate, plus I'm fully covered on food so I can stockpile large quantities of cans or focus on other things. This also makes sure I never have to think to hard about population size.

Another thing I've found that makes a big difference in early survival is to get your hands on ARs ASAP even if it's only one or two (the uniformed services buildings have them as loot usually). One squad with a rifle or two can hold an early settlement single handedly with smart positioning.
This means you can have a few squads out looting 24/7 (with vehicles). Gives you a nice head start on looting and security.

Definitely the warehouse and shelter first. I mean, that's a no-brainer. You need people quickly to build your base, and you need storage for resources to build your base. Science lab's next to get started on unlockable tech. Then I pretty much start building the food production. Yes, there's lots of food in buildings, but you're going to have slow production to start anyway. Both sources help to stretch the food supply so that you aren't having to worry about running into starvation.

I honestly don't even worry about towers or defenses in the first week. You aren't going to have that many guns to start out, and the zombies aren't going to be attacking that heavily in the first week. Easier just to find a couple vehicles and have a couple mobile squads.

i found that 1 farm : 10 citizens to be a good ratio.
for me, first i build is house. ofcourse we need to reasearch first. so, after antena, i reasearch tools then house. untul reasearch finish i usually build shelter and werehouse first. shelter not to big just for first citizen.
after we finish build house, everythink gonna be easy. your citizen mood iis happy and efficiency bonus +40%
