The log delivery missions are such tedium I wasted more time trying to circumvent it.
All in all the log delivery contracts look like they're going to tie up like eight hours of your time because of the insane number of trips you have to make, since one 'delivery' is only "3 logs", and you need to make dozens of deliveries. You can't just load up a mountain of logs and deliver all of them, "3x large logs" means 3 'packed' cargo loads.

I think I spent like three or four hours trying to slowly drag loose logs over to the sawmill just to avoid having to make the trip multiple times and spending hours of logs sliding around just wasted more time.

First I went uphill and they all slid off the back. I decided to back up (P16 + long logs) and the logs slid and wedged against the cab, meaning I couldn't steer.

Having to do this 9 times just in one map on one contract (never mind the others) does not look fun, it looks pretty dull :/

Okay I think I figured out a cheat workaround. In CompleteSave.cfg you can change the values of mission delivery state. So for example, it'll say:

"cargoState":{"type":"CargoLogsMedium","curValue":0,"aimValue":3}

Changing curValue to 2 updated thecontract so I only make one trip and it's done.

I've got no problem with things that "potentially" involve multiple trips like needing to deliver 2x steel beams - because you can either make two trips, or drag a trailer, or us the TwinSteer... three different options that pose different challenges.

There's no option like that for large logs, medium logs you can drag a trailer, but you need 3x medium log loads so it's... still going to be a minimum of two trips. I'll do it once to prove I can do it, don't waste my time, game.

Logging wasn't added to the game till after Season 3 was released. So they kind of feel like an afterthought in their implementation to the former regions. That said I don't really mind it. However I will often load up multiple loads worth of logs onto a single truck (not packing it of course), and then pack each load at the destination by loading the loose logs into another truck.

Yeah that's what I was trying to do after learning the giant stack of 30 packed logs was only one load, but after losing all the logs the fifth time I gave up, and found out how to modify the contract.

i take two medium log trailers one hitched to the other helps a lil

You took way longer than you needed to. Load them all into a sideboard semi.

Use mods. With the Kikimore Azov 73xxx, and one of the long logs trailers out there, plus any of many mod vehicles that can carry medium logs on the truck, plus a 2x medium log trailer, you can do what used to be nine runs in four runs.
It's still a little tedious, but so are a lot of missions like Cargopocalypse and those [long string of curse words] seismic survey missions.
Spending hours doing one thing is a recurring theme in this game.

Put your truck...(ANY Truck) In low gear. Take turn wide and stay as level as possible. Thats all you need to do for logging.
Bigger truck means faster delivery.

if you have the Zikz 612H DLC, that has been my choice lately for logging since it's a bit wider and a bit less prone to tipping over.

It wasn't an afterthought. Logging in Snow Runner works exactly the same as it did in Spintires and Mud Runner. In fact, it's toned down a little, since you only need 3 logs regardless of the log size. It's true it wasn't included in Snow Runner when it first released, but when they implemented it, they carried it over from the previous games.

Logging is done per load not per log. They give you a break and only require you to load 3 logs for a full load. No one wants to sit there and manually load 30 logs for each trip.

There is no requirement to do the logging missions, if you don't like them.

Yeah, I'm familiar. I played the previous games as they were released. What I meant by being added as an afterthought is that content wise they are implemented in a clump rather than scattered in amongst the other contracts like they would have been had they been implemented from the beginning. As such they can seem more tedious because of the concentrated volume of logging.

You want to try logging in Farming Sim 22. You have to chop down every tree individually, cut every trunk to length (into multiple logs) and load every log individually using a crane.
In this game the logging is easy mode.
Comparing it that way it doesnt seem so bad.
Just saying. :happyrv:

Has the physics improved from FS19? I rather *enjoyed* logging in FS19... aside from the fact the physics engine was never built for it, and logs had basically no friction, so they were incredibly difficult to get to *stay* in the bloody log crane/holder.

This is much better in later seasons. The logging is integrated into the other missions. Logging being added into the base game after it was released was a bonus. It's extra content on something you've already paid for. Something Saber doesn't do anymore, as they've given up since season 7.

I for one, like the logging missions, and I'm glad they went back and added it to MI, It's not a waste of time, any more than playing a game is a waste of time in the first place. They are also optional, if someone doesn't like them.

I too am glad they retroactively added logging to former regions. Nonetheless it would no doubt have been implemented better had they added it in the beginning or taken more care to integrate it more naturally. But regardless it is better that it is there than not there no matter how poorly it may have been done.
